About Me

Hello! I am Tara, my partner, Hamish and I are travelling to Melbourne in March, we will be visiting friends, exploring the city and seeing as much live music, art and culture as possible :D
Obviously you are not obliged to follow us around, but we would love to explore the city with any hosts/ travelers we meet during our time there.

I am 25, I grew up in Brisbane and moved to the Sunshine Coast last September. I love dogs, music, reading, anything old fashioned (especially antiques), I love big adventures, nature, and meeting people whilst travelling! I hope to explore as much of this big beautiful planet as I can. I'm on the Autism spectrum, so please understand that's why I seem a little different, I think and socialise differently to others, might be why I don't know an acceptable length for a Couchsurfing about me section 😅

Hamish is 24 and grew up on Coolum Beach, Sunshine Coast. He is obsessed with music and enjoys making playlists and showing others, you will discover bands you have never heard of. He loves adventure and exploring new places, especially forests, and rock hopping. He is very kind, empathetic, extremely fun and friendly to all.

We are both obsessive festival enthusiasts, we met volunteering at Woodford Folk Festival.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My deepest desire is to travel, but I don't just want some fancy 1 month long holiday where you stay at 5 star hotels and keep to yourself/ your family (been there done that).

I want the nomadic lifestyle of backpacking, to meet people from all around the world, cook with them, chat with them, share travel stories, experience different cultures, make life-long friends.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Where do I even begin? I love a bit of everything, I mostly love old music from 50s - 90s, love a rock, jazz, and rap are my favourites, but I will honestly listen to any genre. I really love contemporary Australian music, especially local Brisbane and Melbourne bands.

I just saw TOOL in concert, one of my favourite bands, best live gig I've ever seen 🤤😍

Movies: Shawshank Redemption, In Bruges, The Boat That Rocked, anything by Tarantino, anything by Wes Anderson, Rocky Horror Picture Show, etc etc.

Books: ANYTHING fantasy, Deltora Quest is my all time favourite series, plus Harry Potter, I loved Enid Blyton growing up.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went to New York (or should a say a gigantic New York shaped pile of snow) the day after one of its biggest blizzards, I frolicked around in the snow having a splenid old time because I love snow, then I walked on a not-as-frozen-as-I-thought Central Park fountain pool and.... Broke the ice and fell in.... Thereby receiving karma for being far too happy about a blizzard that probably ruined many a New Yorkers' day.

I have never been so cold in my life.

Teach, Learn, Share

I cannot think of what to put here? Advice?

Visit Lifou, an Island in New Caledonia, it is the most beautiful place I have ever seen in my life.

Pat every dog you meet on the street if you can it will really brighten your day.

Go Ceilidh dancing, even if you don't know how, it's fun jumping into the deep end.

Read the entirety of Deltora Quest (yes all 18 books), no matter what age you are.

Watch The Labyrinth, David Bowie looks funny and the soundtrack is awesome.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Good conversation, home made dinners, drinking tea, listening to music in the evening over a glass of wine, exploring the city, having coffee at a cute little cafe, I am honestly open to anything, I am also ok if the host would prefer not to join in on activities (if they may be busy with work and things), as much as I enjoy company, I also very much enjoy exploring new places alone, and I do not need to be chaperoned about.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, England, France, French Polynesia, Jersey, Mexico, Netherlands Antilles, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Scotland, United States, Vanuatu

Countries I’ve Lived In
