About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To experience as much life (and food) as possible. While broke.

ABOUT ME

they said:
-hopelessly forgetful
-Anti-time-oriented
-"Why must every surface of the kitchen be covered in ingredients?"
-"Are you in culinary school yet?"

I say:
...tough question. Quiet at first, I love small groups over large. I want to be able to remember names one day, but till then I'll just keep on asking. The kitchen is the most comfy place in a house for me, even if I'm not attempting to cook. It's just so easy to talk in a kitchen for some reason. I love scarves, hope to have something I'll write a book about one day, and am quietly in love with my husband. And my dog. And my house.

I used to say that I'm learning Spanish, but now I realized that I'm actually olviendo more than anything. But Americans think I'm fluent. Latinos just laugh. i can't wait to go to central america to learn it right. Got any ideas how to get there w/o any funding? Or be so kind as to steal me away to Asia?

PHILOSOPHY

The whole law can be summed in Love. Not a cheap, "cuz that's what I'm supposed to" love, but the real stuff that draws us to actually care about someone else before we even realize we're doing it. One day I'll live completely by that. And grow some veggies with friends. Till then, let's make some kimchi or oyakodon.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I stayed with an awesome guy in chicago for a night to try it out, loved it, loved the people I knew who were involved, and am trying to host whenever possible. And figure out where to go and be hosted.

Interests

Capoeira, baking treats that take hours, planning and preparing meals that I've never tasted, or that my friends won't bother making. I love to hear people talk about their passions, to see the excitement in their faces, hands, and voices. Music! I love to sing, but apparently don't have as much skill as I wish. And I don't have the vocal prowess of a gospel singer. Yet. As soon as I figure out how to get a black man's voice...

Local food, eating seasonal, and getting in touch with what sustains us. Currently trying to figure out how to organize a shared home & start growing stuff.

Listening to deep discussions, playing board games, and sometimes just being quiet together.

Music, Movies, and Books

In moderation. Too much and I start losing my soul. Or least become very reclusive & develop hermit tendencies.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I watched an old lady cope with the loss of her husband. I watched an old man die with a dignity that I didn't think possible.
They showed me how to pick up the pieces and continue living.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach/learn/share: Capoeria, cooking,
Learn: dancing skills(samba, clubbing, salsa, waltz, everything), pretty please!!! & New foods & how to make fruit liquors, alcohols, and ice cakes.
Share: stories, laughs, and ridiculous adventures. Theories on life. Introductions to different opinions/beliefs/understandings/philosophies. Can I pick your brain?
