ABOUT ME

My first trip overseas was to Ireland in 2003 and I have since fallen in love with traveling and can't imagine a life where I'm not experiencing new places or at least planning on doing/seeing something new. After graduating college, I worked at Disneyland for over 2 years, saving every dollar that I could, and me and my best friend set off on a trip around Asia. We traveled all over India, SE Asia and Japan. It was the most amazing experience of my life. Now, I am living in Japan. I am an English teacher. It's a new adventure...a scary one, but one that I am looking forward to! I love meeting new people, especially while traveling and from other countries- sharing experiences and fun times.

PHILOSOPHY

I'm just trying the live the life that I'm supposed to live- find my place in the world and make a positive impact on others (while simultaneously learning from them).

I'm new-ish to couch surfing and looking forward to making connections with others- experiencing a little bit of their life, having fun and gaining a unique experience.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love pretty much all kinds of movies, especially foreign, classic and drama. Some of my favorites include The Good The Bad and The Ugly, Slumdog Millionaire, Half Nelson, Inception and Singin in the Rain.

Like movies, I love all kinds of music, but I love classic and "indie"-type music the most. I frequently listen to Grizzly Bear, the Beatles, Broken Social Scene, Sufjan Stevens and Beirut. Throw in some different, international music and music used in movies and that pretty much sums up what I listen to.

I don't get to read nearly as much as I would like to. I enjoy classic literature and the more popular stuff like Harry Potter, but I mainly read articles, books on other countries or books on learning Japanese, at the moment.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Every day is an adventure and i enjoy every second of traveling and meeting new people. But some of the moments of my life that have left me speechless include swimming in the Dead Sea, experiencing Angkor Wat, swimming in the Great Barrier Reef, seeing the Taj Mahal (and taking part in India's Holi Festival a few days later.) and pretty much every other moment spent fulfilling a dream.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share my experiences from traveling, working at Disneyland, and being a photographer. Sharing life experiences and the joy of life is what I love about meeting new people!

I'm trying to learn Japanese, so I'd love to practice! I would love to learn to cook as well! What I love most about traveling is learning anything and everything I can- about other people, cultures, religions, viewpoints, etc.
