About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To fill the experience account for old age withdrawals

ABOUT ME

As many say, this is always hard.
I try to tread softly on this fine world of ours.
I'm polite, respectful, affable, agreeable, tidy. I like to be helpful, useful and I'm just as happy sitting talking as getting out amongst it.
Don't smoke unless I'm sufficiently merry to consider things I don't normally do. So obviously I like a drink but not to excess. I like a good beer or wine. Have even been known to shoot tequila. I don't often eat red meat or pork but don't freak out if you do. I Love good food from most cultures. Spicy is good :-)
Basically, like most people I like to have a good time with good people, but if you are looking for party central, then probably won't find it here. Everything in moderation is my motto.

That oughta cover it! If you wanna know anything else, just ask ! :-)

PHILOSOPHY

Most people know me as calm, honest, thoughtful, respectful and easy going. I take everyone as I find them. If you are peaceful with an open heart, mind and soul then you're alright with me. I wouldn't say I'm an extrovert but I love to be where people are laughing, smiling and being good to each other. Not the life and soul of the party but certainly love to be there. I work to live not the other way round. I guess its inevitable that some people will rub each other up the wrong way sometimes but that should never hinder the opportunity to learn about yourself and understand others.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Hopefully just by being involved. I think its a great idea and believe it will go a long way in removing cultural ignorance and alienation that is the source of so much misunderstanding and racism.
I want to actively bring back common courtesy and respect which isn't always too common. I want to fight the tendency to pre-judge regardless of race, colour, lifestyle or sexuality and constantly question the basis and truth of any preconceptions to find understanding and acceptance.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

This is my first time hosting guests, but I guess it is much like being a guest. Remember your manners, communicate, and you won't go far wrong. Of the many experiences of being hosted so far, I can say I'm hooked on CS. It may just be the best thing I have found ever! Personal contact and a chance to reflect and converse together, a free place to sleep, local insights and tips. What could be better?

Music, Movies, and Books

Music......Too many to mention. Pretty much anything besides Country or Death Metal. http://www.last.fm/user/thejaiman

Being a musician, you are inspired and encouraged to seek out as many kinds of music as you can. Music is my lifeline. If its got a great beat, a great vocal and a good vibe I'm usually pretty happy.
I must profess to large gaps in my knowledge in the areas of world music, folk music, jazz, blues, metal, electronica, house, rap, r'n'b (and all their sub genres!), but mostly due to time constraints than to ignorance or lack of interest :-). I love to hear new and different music when its played well.
Movies and books ? The same could be said for my reading repertoire....BIG HOLES.
Sci-fi, comedy, philosophy, natural world, culture, environmental, autobiography.
I have seen a fair few films (the kinda person you hate at the dvd store).
For a great film, obviously give me; good directors, great actors, script, story line....I want it all.
Thought provoking stories and a sense of connection. However, popcorn movies are fun, some special effects are too cool to miss and others are just silly but seriously funny. I do like movies !

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Soaked to the bone on a pushbike with a broken pedal riding around Ayutayya, Thailand after a typical sudden heavy downpour. Unforgettable!
Giving a cooooeee to all my Aussie mates from the top of the Eiffel Tower
Tandem Skydive
Playing with my original band live across Australia when I was 17, for a national band comp.

Teach, Learn, Share

Well I drum so if you want some starter lessons? I have taught before. Hey we could just have some fun with some hand drums ?
If you have an instrument that works well with drumming or singing,
lets have a jam!
If you need to know anything about Melbourne or Tasmania , I am happy to look into it for ya! :-)
