I'm in Split Croatia from May-September 2022. I'll be working as a flotilla skipper and will hopefully have some free time to go hiking around the Balkans.

I'm an easy going traveler who loves nature, music and having a drink with friends. I'm an American but I live in the Netherlands, where I completed my PhD studies.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm couch surfing because it's a great way to meet locals. I believe you can only know a place if you experience how everyday life is like there.

Interests

My interests revolve around physical activities and music. I love being outside hiking or sailing and I adore musical theater, opera, and concerts of various genres. Singing is one of my greatest joys in life and I'm also learning to play the ukulele.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've walked the entire length of New Zealand's south island on the Te Araroa Long pathway.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can give you tips on long distance hiking, show you a few chords on the ukulele, and teach you about reinforcement learning algorithms.
I also know a lot of random stuff. I recently taught some international friends the rules of American football. I guess you'll just have to meet me to find out what I have to offer you!

I want to get more experience with sailing and other water sports. Actually... I'd like to learn more of just about everything!
