About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Travel yonder, create new connections, climb mountains, and go everywhere.
ABOUT ME
I try to live a simple life. Experience, memory and travel will always be more important to me than anything material. I want to be a crazy old lady who can tell a hell of a story.
I'm a nerd at heart and am always up for good conversation with interesting people. Different perspectives and cultures are fascinating to me, and I want to take in as much as possible. It makes sense that I have a degree in psychology, and I'm working (slowly) towards a master's in nutrition and psychology. I love food and have been a vegetarian 12 years now. I love to trail run, hike, and backpack and couldn't imagine living anywhere without mountains for very long.
PHILOSOPHY
Wherever you go, there you are.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Traveling and trying to bring a little joy to hosts. Hopefully I'll have a couch to reciprocate when I get back home. Couch karma and all.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've met great people couch surfing, but haven't had my own account until now. From the other Jamie in Alaska who stayed on my friend's sailboat for a summer, to myself and a friend staying with a student rebel group in an abandoned preschool in Greece... I've always had an amazing experience.
Interests
Connections are most important. I love to have an interesting conversation, heartfelt philosophical discussion, adventure (especially if there's whisky involved somehow), or to explore a new place and form an attachment or memory. I try to pay attention to life, and gain as much as possible from little things.

Music, Movies, and Books
So many books. I'm a bookworm and you would be hard pressed to find me without some book or 2 or 3 on my person. I tend to enjoy a little bit of everything, fiction, historical, classic, philosophy, poetry, plays... The Prophet is usually with me nowadays, and Shantaram is a new favorite. Music-wise I like older classic rock (Beatles, Hendrix, Joplin, the Who...), folk and indie, classical, jazz, swing and anything with an African beat. I play classical piano, and want to get more into playing jazz and blues. Movies, my favorite is probably Amelie. My knowledge is not extremely extensive, but I'm always up for a good recommendation.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Beautiful natural places always stay with me.
Hiking up to Crystal Lake in Southeast Alaska and seeing the ocean and endless Northern Rockies, then sliding down the springwater pipeline back down the mountain... that was a wonderful day.
When I was young I lived in the rainforest of the Caribbean on the island of Dominica. The playground at school included a Banyan tree on a cliff next to the Ocean. We would swing on roots hanging from the branches over the ocean, climb coconut trees, and swim in the Caribbean sea.
Traipsing around Europe a couple of years ago I once hitchhiked to the cliffs of Moher in Ireland with three other people from Galway, at one point sharing a VW mini golf with 8 people. I was in the trunk with Jill. We walked along the cliffs, watched a storm come in, and came back salty with sea water, windblown, and happy.
Teach, Learn, Share
I could teach someone stained glass, blacksmithing, classical piano, how to climb a tree, statistics about personality profiles... just ask.
I'm endlessly curious. Please teach me something!
