ABOUT ME

I enjoy traveling a lot! As a child, I lived and grew up in South Africa due to my father's diplomatic post. Consequently I have always enjoyed approaching various cultures around the world. For the moment, I am an exchange student in Leiden, the Netherlands; studying Art History and Dutch Studies. My major back home however is actually Literature and Foreign Languages. Nevertheless, I seem to appreciate sci-fi and suspense novels more than classical literature works...XD!

In my free time, I often read a novel, listen to some good music, or play my clarinet. I used to play flute in a woodwind ensemble, but now as an amateur clarinetist in the school's orchestra. Although I engage myself in the practice of classical music, I also listen to a wide variety of genres from rock to electros. Radiohead and Bjork are my personal favorite. I guess music is and will always be part of my life besides traveling :)

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Now that my friends recommend me to experience the magic of couchsurfing, I not only provide a couch in Taiwan but even being a couchsurfer myself :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I am kind of new to coachsurfing. I did crash in my cousin's boyfriend's place once and another host's sofa the other time in Austria though. Both experiences were quite unforgettable, and I hope to experience some more :)

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: Flowers for Algeron, His Dark Materials, 1984, Lord of the Flies, The Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, and etc. to name but a few.

Music: Classical music, Radiohead, Bjork, Broken Social Scene, Emily Haines, Zero 7, Bliss, Koop,..., ah too many!

Movies: Equilibrium, Inception, Star Wars, The Dark Knight, Butterfly Effect, K-19, and so on. Mainly sci-fi or action movies.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Took a 5-hour bus trip deep into the Arctic Circle in Finland and stayed there for three nights---just to observe the breathtaking northern lights (and it was like minus 20 Celsius!).
