About Me

Hi!
My name is Jaka Peter and knowledge thirsty student from Slovenia, currently based in Vienna. I love books, reading, travelling (obviously) and experiencing different cultures. I played competitive basketball from the age 7-20 but had to give it up due to many injuries. I also played chess a lot in my early youth and occasionaly still enjoy a game or two with a glass of fine wine or two if I feel especially notty :D with some classical music to go with of course. One important thing about me is that I love dogs, and daily miss my golden Labrador named Goldy - she is living in my hometown of Ljubljana with my family. I also enjoy nature a lot, the vast green landscapes, rivers and mountains. I cannot decide if I'm more a tea or a coffee person, love the taste ofthem both. I also really really enjoy cooking and baking stuff, trying out and combining different types of flavours, experiencing local ingredients, etc. Unfortunately I have no proffesional cooking education but would love to change that in the near future. I'm currently studying to become a psychoanalitical psychotherapist and I also enrolled in Philosophy and Sociology. Some of other points of interest are: going to the gym, yoga, meditation, sports, BOOKS, art, books, food, books..and so on and so on :D oh and also I am travelling with my girlfriend Staša her profile: https://www.couchsurfing.com/people/stasa-frank :))

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've always been interested in different cultures and people in general. I love to travel and been doing it since I was an infant. I think Couchsurfing is a great way to meet locals, exchange life stories and have an opportunity to travel at low costs.

Music, Movies, and Books

MUSIC: I listen to pretty much everything except some genres that lack vocals and melodity, but even so I'm a pretty flexible guy and don't nag about music. I used to listen to rap and hip-hop a lot, jazz, deep house, classical music, I love a Slovenian rock band Siddharta, they're absolutely great, also: Dropkick Murphy's, Biggie...

Movies: I like all sorts of movies and have no explicit preferences. Loved LOTR and other fantasy based movies, Inception and Shutter Island types (I love LEO's work in general), Tarantino (especially Inglorious Bastards, Django, Reservoir dogs,..), also spy movies such as The bridge of spies, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, etc. Oh and I loved Bridget Jones!:D

Books: I am a huge bookworm and a bibliophile! There's alway a book or two accompanying me. I love all sorts of book, but lately I've been reading a lot of psychology and philosphy. I used to devour detective books and crme-mystery: Agatha Christie, Tess Gerritsen, James Patterson, Robert Galbraith's Cormoran Strike novels, and much much more. Camus, Sartre, Kundera, you get the point :D oh and do not forget Bukowski of course.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once survived an Urban Gladiator obstacle course without any physical preparation and later couldn't walk for days. And milked a cow once :D nah just kidding!

Teach, Learn, Share

There's so much I would love to learn and to share many of my life experiences and hilarious anecdotes.:)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can teach them how to play chess, I always love to discuss different topics and nod in rhytm while my girlfirend plays the guitar :D and also cook of course. I just love to do that :) or make brownies (the ordinary chocolate ones, not the magic ones :D)
