About Me

I'm Jake, a 29 year old travelling round Japan with my partner, Jaz. I have been living in Japan since November, and Jaz has joined me last month and we are travelling in our van.

Both of us have spent the last 10 years travelling extensively, from West Africa to Mongolia with a lot in between. I’m a keen cook, and food is a big reason I love travelling. and both of us are into our outdoor activities. We like to have a few beer when the occasion calls for it.

We try our best to travel mindful of our environmental impact and most importantly our impact on the people we meet. Brought up with socialist values, I’ve also believed in helping out the people who need it most before ourselves.

Super open minded and keen to meet new people and exchange stories and have a great time!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on Couchsurfing to try and get an authentic experience of places I travel to. I've lived in local host homes in the past and found their inside knowledge to be invaluable. Living with families has provided me with a great chance to learn as much as possible about their culture and to have to best insight into a new place. CS offers an experience that hostels cant provide, and these experiences are why i go travelling.

I’ve attended meet ups around the world and always had a blast.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Moving to Ghana to teach in a rural village aged 18 was the best experience of my life. I developed so much as a person and I'm so grateful to everyone who I met whilst there.

Teach, Learn, Share

I believe everyone can teach anyone something new, and can learn something new off them as well. I love a yarn about past adventures and listening to other people’s stories.

A keen cook I love making dishes for people and eating together!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share all my past stories, and I'm always willing to lend a hand where needed in the house. Happy to go out for a few drinks or some food, or whatever the host fancies.
