About Me

Hello :). I'm a neuroscience grad student currently living in Amsterdam to pursue a Research Masters over the next few years. While I'm living here, I've had an uncontrollable urge to travel as much as I possibly can! My native language is English, I lived in France at a young age and have spoke French my entire life, so I would consider myself fluent; but I suppose I'll leave that judgement to the French ;). I'm a music fanatic, a movie buff, I love to eat, I love to eat, oh, and did I mention I love to eat?

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've been travelling around the world for a few years now, and I'm always looking to meet new people during my travels. A travelling companion of mine recently suggested couch surfing, and though I had never heard of it, I loved the idea right away! So I hopped online, read some reviews, and decided it seemed like an awesome way to travel while meeting locals and getting a fully authentic experience in a new place.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I'm, all over the place! Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and Black Sabbath are my "holy trinity of rock and roll," but I could just as easily throw on a Wu-Tang Clan album or some Ella Fitzgerald. I like a bit of everything!

Movies: Too many favourites to count, but to name a few... Fight Club, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Princess Mononoke, and Full Metal Jacket.

Books: Again, way too many to count, but recently some of my favourites have been Free Will by Sam Harris, A Brief History of Time by Stephen Hawking (finally got around to reading it), and How to Change Your Mind by Michael Pollan (this one is newer and PARTICULARLY good, I highly recommend it to any fellow modern hippies).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Throughout my travelling, I'd have to say the most amazing thing I've ever experienced was a snowboarding trip I just took recently with my younger brother and my best friend. We spent a week in the French Alps for Christmas and New Years and stayed on the pistes for the whole trip. Nothing beats waking up on a beautiful day, walking out onto the balcony, and seeing snowcapped mountains every way you look.

Teach, Learn, Share

I spend an obnoxious amount of my free time playing the guitar and I'm a decent singer, so if you have any desire to be serenaded, I got you covered!

What I Can Share with Hosts

When I moved to Amsterdam I really wanted to learn how to solve a Rubiks Cube and after a little practice, I nailed it. If I'm visiting I can definitely teach you how with minimal frustration!
