About Me

Hello!

I recently graduated from the University of Salford with a First Class Honours Degree in Television & Radio. I am currently taking a break after being in education since I was five, and am going travelling before I start to build a career for myself. The first adventure in my sights is the US!

At the moment I live with my parents while I save for travelling next year, but once I am back, I will be looking to rent my own place and will be more than happy to let people visit.

I currently live just outside of Bristol, one of the most interesting and diverse cities in the UK! Bristol is unbelievably quirky and has unique bars, restaurants, beautiful green spaces, and an iconic bridge. While at university I lived in Manchester, which is another amazing city full of culture. I would be more than happy to give advice/recommendations regarding where to visit in these cities.

I believe that I am a good house guest - I am courteous and will always respect the rules of the host. At university lets just say I lived with some housemates who weren't the tidiest...which drove me crazy at times as I like to keep things looking neat.

If I came to stay with you then expect some tasty dishes rustled up by myself! I enjoy cooking and baking and am always keen to experiment with dishes from other cultures. In return for your hospitality, I will happily cook up some treats.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To see the world, to meet people, and to make friends from far and wide!

On the 16th February, a friend from work and I are going to be beginning a two month adventure in the US. We will be starting in San Fransisco - hiring a car to drive down the west coast, in essence doing a U shape working down the west coast to San Diego, then across to Austin and New Orleans, up north to Chicago through Nashville, then working along the top of the US to the finish point in New York.

We are planning to spend a further two months in Central America also. Any advice on the trip would be welcome! Where to see, where to stay, what to spend money on.

It's a big adventure and we want to share it with other people! Being able to meet others, explore national parks and cities, and learn about different cultures in the US would be brilliant.

Hey, why not join the journey? :)

Interests

As you can imagine from the course I studied, I do love filming. I'm looking into getting my own camera setup and making films while I am travelling. Maybe I could make a film for you?

Aside from this, in my spare time I like to keep active. I play for my local football team and am always keen to delve into other sports. Not to mention swimming - if there is a beautifully scenic swimming spot somewhere, I will quite happily drive many miles to get there!

I desperately want to experience sport culture in the US - watching a college basketball game, an NFL match, or a MBL game would be awesome!

I also love music - listening to it and writing about it. I'm really open to different genres - from dance to acoustic, and who doesn't enjoy a bit of country? I predominantly write about dance music, and am really keen to attend events while I travel. If you or anyone you know has a good story to tell, or is finding their way in music, then I would be happy to write about it!

Music, Movies, and Books

Dance, indie, hip hop, country, jazz - I adore music! I am particularly keen on my drum and bass. If there is a night on in the US while I am travelling, I would love to take you!

Movies - Comedy, horror, action-adventure, sci fi, rom com (just between you and me...) A trip to the cinema always goes down well, but a good DVD, a few beers, and a bag of popcorn would be a satisfactory night in.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Finishing university with the highest grade possible. While this may not seem like the most amazing thing to others, to me it was a huge achievement that I worked hard for.

Teach, Learn, Share

I want to learn Spanish! I know a few phrases and basic terms, but if I am going to venture into Central America then I need to improve my vocabulary.

I'm also keen to learn how to surf, but unwilling to pay the high prices for surf schools, so if you are in the know then lets catch some waves together!

I'm happy to share my skills and knowledge where possible. Cooking, filming, writing and so on.
