About Me

I am 25 years old and I just recently moved out of San Diego, California. I am originally from Minnesota and I am from a very large family (12 aunts and uncles, 30+ cousins, 1 brother, 6 nieces and nephews). I went to school in Minnesota for my undergraduate degree in Speech-Language-Hearing science. In undergrad I was a member of a social fraternity, gave admissions tours for in-coming students, active in student government, sport attender, and much more. I was very active during undergrad. I then moved to San Francisco, CA to attend my doctorate program in audiology; that is the study of hearing and vertigo disorders. I lived in San Francisco for 2 years and I was very busy with school, however, I was able to get out often and I spent a lot of time trying out new bars and having board game nights with my closest friends. I then moved to San Diego for my audiology residency. I just finished with school and now have my degree and will be moving to LA soon. I San Diego I was very involved with my Kickball team, volleyball team, and I went to weekly trivia. I also was born with a hearing loss and that is why I chose to go into this profession. I am a very outgoing person.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am just graduating from graduate school now and I am traveling for 3 months before I start my job in September. Most of my travels will be in Europe (Netherlands, Ireland, France, Brussels, Spain, Switzerland, Germany, Poland, and Norway). I am trying to stay on a low budget and I think couchsurfing is a good way of doing that. Also, when I get back to the United States, I will be moving to Los Angeles and would love to meet people by having them stay on my couch.

Music, Movies, and Books

I will listen to most music, however, country and acoustical covers are my favorite type of music. I have a membership to a movie theater near my house and I go to movies all the time. I am not a huge reader at the moment as I mostly listen to podcast.

Music: Currently on heavy rotation are Kacey Musgraves and Jeremy Zucker.

Books: A Song of Ice and Fire Series (more the show than the books) and currently listening to the Stand by Stephen King.

TV: Game of Thrones, Cheers, Friends, HIMYM, Grey's Anatomy, Barry, Chernobyl, High Maintenance (current favorite), Succession, Ballers, The Walking Dead, Dexter, The West Wing, Westworld, Sex Education, Shameless, Mad Men, Narcos. Pretty much anything on HBO.

Podcasts: Oysters Clams and Cockles, NYTs the Daily, The Ross Bolen Podcast, Club Coolpod, Ear Hustle, Mind of Micah, The Pitch, and Beautiful Anonymous.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The summer of 2016, my parents and I drove across the United States from Minnesota to California over the course of 8 days. We did not plan a single part of our trip as we wanted everything to be spontaneous. Things that we discovered were a 150 year old cemetery with a guy who died over an 8 dollar bet, sand dunes, New Belgium Brewery, hot spring pool, route 66 highway, Las Vegas, and Hoover dam. The trip was by far my favorite trip because we just winged the whole thing.
