About Me

I'm a 24 year old English Literature student from the UK. I write poems and other things, and I'm a fledgling musician. I love exploring the UK with my friends but recently I find my feet are itching to go further. If there's an insane rave in a Bulgarian forest, or an idyllic vista from an Alpine mountain, I want to be there. I'll talk to you about politics, history, art, and music, and I'll listen to you about a whole bunch of other stuff. And cook for you.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm planning on taking off this summer. I'm packing in the job and making the most of my time off university. I have a vague sort of plan to get from Ozora Festival to Moscow and I want to take the scenic route - a scenic route which is peppered with people. I'm keen to exchange ideas and make the most of every place I visit by straying off the beaten path and learning it from the locals.

Additionally - Manchester is a fantastic place to visit and we have a spare room. We've also got a network of hundreds of artists, adventurers, musicians, academics, ravers, and friends. You'd really like it here. We know where all the good stuff is. C'mere.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Anything from Yann Tiersen to Squarepusher. I've yet to be convinced by Psytrance (but that's exactly why I'm going to Ozora).

Movies: I don't watch films as much as I used to - lately though I've been into rotascope films like Waking Life. My favourite film is probably 28 Days Later because zombies.

Books: Ragged Trousered Philanthropists; Heart of Darkness; Shock Doctrine; Different Seasons; The Sellout.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I pulled my little cousin out the way of a speeding truck when I was a kid. It's stuck with me, but there's so many things I've not done yet.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm a literature student and a writer, so I'm well positioned to help you improve your English skills. Did you know the longest pronounceable word in English is pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis? You'll probably never use it in a sentence, but it's interesting. I'm knowledgeable about politics and I love debating. I speak French terribly (really badly) and I want to improve this. I've also had experience in building (I've helped build an eco-hut and some basic furniture) and I want to improve this skill too. I sing and play guitar and would love to meet musicians I can learn from.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Despite the obvious disadvantage of being English I'm quite a good cook. I'm a vegetarian, which has encouraged me to be more creative in the kitchen. I can also promise a lively debate and a willingness to learn. I'm very friendly and you'll find a solid dancing partner in me.
