About Me

I haven't been on here in a VERY long time. So I'm taking the time to update this thing with photos and new information.

While I was not born and raised here in Austin, I have lived here for 30 years of my life. Therefore, I consider it home. Despite the significant changes that have taken place over the years since I moved here, I still do have a lot of love for this city and the connections that I have made here.

A little about my place: I recently moved into a new apartment a couple of months ago. So I've made some changes to my couchsurfing accommodations (see pictures). I have a guest room with a futon that can fit two people when unfolded. I do have couches in the living room as well. There is one bathroom, but it is in the hallway and not attached to my room. There is a nice sized kitchen as well. My apartment is a 15 minute bus ride from downtown, and a five minute car ride. It is also near a lot of other things. Oh, and just to prevent you from even having to ask: SORRY, NO PETS! The fish and the turtle are all I need.

About me: I am a graduate from Texas State University with a Masters in Adult Education and a Bachelors in English and Mass Communications. I currently work for a school district as the teacher of students who are blind or visually impaired. So I ensure they have their accommodations and that the teachers are able to assist in meeting the needs of the students I serve.

I tend to be a pretty social person, but I can also be rather introvert at times. So while I like big groups, I definitely like small groups as well. I guess I'm an introvert who likes to be out and about. I can be pretty easy going, but I also have no problem in giving my opinion about something. I have no problem with people regarding their race, sexual orientation, or ideas, as long as mine are respected.

Otherwise, I like music, movies, a lot of old video games, beer, whiskey, food, the occasional game of pool (I kind of suck), and sometimes walking outside when it's nice out.

If you want to know anything else, just ask.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

While I tend to let people do the more touristy things on their own, I like to show people some of the more underground/local sites and places to hang out. I also like to learn from other people about their experiences.

Interests

Music, movies, trying new foods, going out to pubs/bars, trying new beers (we have a lot of micro breweries here), being around friends whether it's a big group, one person, or just a few people.

I'm not a big dance club or frat bar person. So if you're looking to do a lot of that, either you should go on your own, or surf with someone else who is more into that sort of thing.

Music, Movies, and Books

I tend to like a lot of types of music -- punk, 90s rock, grunge, indie rock, goth, some metal, old jazz, a lot of music from the 20s and 30s, old r&b, some hip-hop, electronic music, and some older country. Some favorites are Sonic Youth, Ramones, Pixies, Skinny Puppy, Garbage, Curve, Dead Kennedys, L7, Slayer, Miles Davis, Tom Waits, Helmet, The Cramps, Otis Redding, Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, and a lot more.

I like a lot of horror, especially stuff from the 70s and 80s -- The Fog, Torso, Let's Scare Jessica To Death, The Nail Gun Massacre, Night of the Living Dead, Blood Feast, The Undertaker and his Pals, Suspiria, Deep Red, Shivers, Ghoulies, Night Of The Creeps, and so on.

Also other films such as Animal House, Last Picture Show, Lost Highway, Bonnie and Clyde, Clerks, Mallrats, Meet The Feebles, Cannibal: The Music, Toxic Avenger, The Jerk, Flesh Gordon, and so on.
