About Me

I'm just someone who likes to travel. Pretty basic. I used to be a hardcore shoestring backpacker; did that for years. I'm more settled now, and I don't have the necessity of living on a shoestring, but I still do sometimes because it's lead to some of the most fun I've ever had in the past.

I'm a biochemist by trade and I own a small woodworking business. My dogs are the best living things on this planet in my opinion, so as much as I love backpacking around, meeting new people, seeing epic new places and getting to experience all the cool stuff this planet has to offer, I constantly miss my pups when I'm not at home.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Why not?

Interests

Dogs, woodworking, science, and brewing are my passions. These are the hobbies that I'll cancel plans over.

  • dogs
  • photography
  • beer
  • woodworking
  • music
  • hiking
  • camping
  • beer brewing
  • horticulture

Music, Movies, and Books

My music tastes run generally towards indie, folk, and alt rock, but I like a lot of different genres. I'm always going to shows. Huge fan of live music.

I read a lot. Mostly sci-fi and fantasy, but history, biography, and classic lit also take up a lot of space in my library.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

While in Belize, I got to save a huge freaking loggerhead turtle! Had to catch it in the water with my bare hands and after we removed all the fishing line from her front flipper, brought her back to the wildlife dept on Caye Caulker island.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to brew your own beer, so there's that. I've also got quite a bit of knowledge of woodcraft. I've built some stuff. I'm always looking to learn new things, so if you've got a hobby, passion or neat trick, lay it on me.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A good conversation, and beer. I'm a talkative fella and have a little knowledge about a lot of subjects.
