About Me

CURRENT MISSION

My wife and I are about to move to USA, but we are waiting on my VISA application to be approved. We will be moving out of our unit at the start of June but may not be ready to fly to the US at that stage visa wise, if so we want to do a little road trip down the East Coast and across to Adelaide to say goodbye to a close friend of mine. We don't know where we are going to go or for how long at this stage, just putting the feelers out to see what options we have.

ABOUT US

My wife Cat and I have been married for 6 months, Cat is American, i am Australian. We met in Sydney a few years back while i was working on a few jobs down here (I'm originally from the Central Coast) and Cat was studying to complete her PhD. One thing lead to another and we are now headed to Austin Texas, USA to spend a good few years due to a job offer Cat has received.

We are both avid travellers, before we met I spent 18 months backpacking through Canada, USA, Mexico and Central America, and Cat has travelled some of Asia, Europe and obviously Australia.

We have been to Queenstown together and plan to spend a month in Italy on our way to the US but we thought a sneaky little Aussie backpacking trip would be fun to kick things off.

We are both fun happy energetic people, non smokers, not big drinkers but we are down for a drunken session if thats how the night (or day) pans out.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

So far I have surfed a fair few places with a mate of mine in US and with a couple mates in Mexico, and loved everyone of them! We have always had a great time and i think our host have enjoyed our company and what we brought to the table aswell!! Cat and i are both excited to see how the Australians stand up to the CS impression i got overseas ;)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Loving it! Met so many cool people on our level, best thing ive ever joined up with!!!! Something i will keep doing for a long time!

Interests

...love a good mountain bike ride through the forest or kayaking down a river, chucking a line out hoping to get a bite

....hanging by the side of a lake with a fire pumping and playing some tunes on the acoustic guitar or reading a book or maybe getting a game of cards cranking

...burying myself in some hot sand baking in the sun, then surfing some waves or kicking a footy around

...having a beer around a pool table and chucking some darts or sitting down to an intense battle of poker, before the alcohol kicks in and im busting out one of my 3 moves on the dancefloor, thinking im killing it haha

...getting creative in the kitchen chucking this or that in the saucepan or just having a mad sleep-in watching a movie

Just want to always be wearing a smile on my face, life is too short not too!!!!!

Music, Movies, and Books

Not a big critic on music, like a lotta shit! Anything from stuff like Bullet For My Valentine, Alexisonfire and Avenged Sevenfold to Green Day, Frenzal Rhomb and Rise Against to Foo Fighters, Jimmy Eat World and Pearl Jam, to Rihanna, Kesha and Katy Perry... Any music that is good gets a tick from me whatever style...

I am into fantasy novels, well i used to be, trying to get back into them, but i may have outgrown them or maybe just read too similiar a story too many times???

Biographies are the go, anthony keedis was a goer, jimi hendrix a good read and led zepplin also a good one!

Movies well i'll say Braveheart! is an ultimate fav! Anchorman! a bloody beauty too! Avatar! was quite the enjoyable movie.... there are a lot!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Been snowboarding in Banff for 6 months, went bungee jumping in Vancouver Island, head first into the water in Nanaimo, also in Queenstown bungee jumped the Nevis, 134m high, heliboarded Clark glacier in NZ, Booted around on some ATVs in the sand dunes around Florence OR, jetski'd and parasurfed on Lake Tahoe, CA, broke down in Death Valley haha partied it up in Vegas, surfed my way down the Mexican West Coast, met some amazing people in Puerto Escondido, climbed too many volcanos in Central America and lost myself in Lake Atitlan, got stuck in Utila Honduras and scuba dived for 10 weeks there, earning my divemaster, backflipped off a 7m high bridge, everyday has been amazing since i left home 14 months ago!!

Teach, Learn, Share

If you mix flour, sugar,a little bit of salt and then some butter and water plus a heap of smarties or chocolate bites in a batch, roll it into a thin sausage, then wrap it around a stick, snake style and slowly cook it over a fire, you will create an easy fun tasty dessert snack for yourself!!!!!!! haha
