About Me

CURRENT MISSION

TO LIVE!

ABOUT ME

Ah, me...
Well I've been travelling for long enough now to call myself a traveller I suppose. In the past 4yrs I have done/seen some amazing things and haven't been in any one place for more than 6months. The stops (when they arrive) allow me to appreciate the detail of a place while I work at rebuilding my funds, and the backpacking times (Yay!) remind me that experiences, life and people are all basically good!
I had great friends and always had a lot of fun back home, but it's so predictable. And predictable isn't fun!
I believe if life isn't fun, you're not doing it right.

PHILOSOPHY

"Become who you are."
Also, "There comes a point where you have to live the theory or shut the fuck up."

"Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?"
"That depends a good deal on where you want to get to."
"I don't much care where –"
"Then it doesn't matter which way you go"
Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I love the idea of meeting awesome people. Hosting and surfing both offer this.
By hosting I get to meet awesome people while helping them out and it costs absolutely nothing. By surfing you get to meet locals who are usually pretty awesome too and it, too, costs absolutely nothing! In my experience the best part of travelling is the people, not the places.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My first experience with CS I stayed on a farm with some couch surfers who were house sitting. I had my own room and I rode quads around the property for my first time ever. The sort of people that participate in this are the sort of people I want to meet.

Interests

I love snowboarding and worked a couple of ski seasons at random Canadian ski hills. I also love reading and writing. I did Professional Writing and Editing at University but have been lazy the last little while. Hopefully I'll get into it more soon. Maybe right now...

Music, Movies, and Books

I love life changing books, passionate music, and thought provoking movies. The Celestine Prophecy; Jonathan Livingston Seagull; The God Delusion; all great books. I got great things from them all, whether I agreed with what they said or not.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've done my skydiving course back home. Not overly amazing but fun as all hell!
Oh! And I had an amazing adventure in Vietnam! I bought a motorbike and rode from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City, taking about a month. What a blast!

Teach, Learn, Share

Hmm. I'm here to learn as well as teach I guess. What do I want to learn? If I knew I'd be teaching it, haha.
I read 'Ishmael' a while ago. On the second page we see an ad from the newspaper. "Teacher seeks pupil: Must have an earnest desire to change the world."
I don't think any one teacher has all the answers. So I'll ask everyone until I have an answer of my own.
