About Me
Hello everyone! My name is Jakk Smith, I'm a 25 year old Photojournalism graduate living in Stoke-on-Trent. I'm currently paying my way by working as a designer in a Marketing office, and offering freelance photo/design work on the side. (I'm also a part-time pirate..)
I absolutely love meeting new people, having new experiences and generally broadening my mind and knowledge however I can - I love to read and learn new things!
I'm not entirely sure what else to put down here, if you would like to know more feel free to message me absolutely anytime!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've been offered a number of opportunities to work as an Extra on some films, and as such with the locations being away from my home and the dates usually being concurrent and for a little while, I will be very much in need of some form of accommodation for the duration of these shoots. Currently this seems to be my only real obstacle in the way of this opportunity, and I'd heard many great things about CouchSurfing, so here I am!

Music, Movies, and Books
Hmmmmmm too difficult to answer!
Music - I am definitely mainly rooted in Classic Rock (umbrella term here!) and more modern Rock and Metal, but I really do love a lot - Jazz and Blues, I love orchestral music, mainly movie scores I'd say, I'm a big fan of Irish Folk music. I can't currently think of a genre I exclusively don't like, except perhaps grime and similar things.
Books - Hmmm, again another tricky one.. I tend to mainly read historical non-fiction, based around aspects of military history , focusing on the two World Wars, but again I love learning and I love history, so that covers a lot! Regarding fiction, one of my favourite authors is Conn Iggulden!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I don't really consider anything I've done being particularly noteworthy, as it would put down things that people have done that ARE amazing!
One particularly significant personal moment occurred last year, when I was running a Rock Music society in University. We were the biggest society on campus, RAMS (Rock, Alternative & Metal Society) were a great bunch of likeminded and considerate rockers, essentially a big family! One of the events I organised was a charity rock concert in aid of the Sophie Lancaster Foundation. The event itself was a slight commercial failure, with numbers not reaching what I would have liked, I'll admit, but the people who DID turn up all donated in excess, the bands who played put on an absolutely fantastic show and everybody went home with beaming smiles on there faces, and it was the first time I'd successfuly fund raised - perhaps not as lucrative as I had hoped, but I felt on top of the world that night!
What I Can Share with Hosts
Speaking practically, for the effort and consideration being put in by the host(s), it's pretty much needless to say that I am more than happy to pitch in where I can at home regarding housework, food, toiletries etc.
Aside from that, I just love meeting new people, hearing new stories and making memories. I'm a rather sentimental fool, and I would always do my best to me as kind, considerate and helpful a guest as possible!
