About Me

First things first: i want to express my anger and frustration about the stories i’ve heard from multiple female couchsurfers of guys making unwanted advances and offers to ”host” when they just want to meet up. It’s heartbreaking that girls should feel more apprehensive about using this amazing app and community. Please stay out of couchsurfing if you are looking for a dating app.

So: I’m an environmentalist, somewhat of a seeker, and a student from Lund currently living in Stockholm. In spring 2020 i did an internship in climate adaptation/resilience/organic agriculture in Ladakh, northern India. Before that i interned at an environmental NGO in Stockholm. In spring 2019 i backpacked all around California for two months, and before that volunteered on farms in France and Spain. I recently hitch-hiked from Sweden to France.

I love being surrounded by strange and unfamiliar sights, sounds, smells and people. Travelling is the best way to grow and develop; when i feel constrained and stuck in routines, the urge to grab my backpack and leave everything behind hits me. Being spontaneous, trusting in the generosity of strangers can be challenging, but it’s a richly rewarding way to travel.

I can be pretty quiet and have sometimes been called polite or even shy but i’m also laid back and social. Depends on the day really! I love reading, music (listening and playing), drinking tea, hiking and admiring the natural world, learning things that help me understand the world.

Apart from meeting amazing and open and different and interesting people the best experiences in my travels have been wilderness hikes where you get the chance to absorb yourself in a landscape on your own. I have a keen interest in environmental issues from every possible angle and have spent a lot of time studying them.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing is an important community to me, which shares a love of diversity, discovery, openness and adventure. It embodies the spirit of free, open and trust-based exchange and lowers the barrier to travel and explore the world. As a platform for people to share their homes, time and experiences across boundaries, it also lowers barriers between people. And it’s brought me in contact with awesome, crazy, beautiful people who have made a real impact on my life.

Interests

I’m passionate about sustainability, resilience and environmental stewardship and about alternative lifestyles and ways to organize exchange between people. Also crazy about hiking and camping, i just love the feeling of carrying all that i need on my back and sustaining myself with the simplest possible means.

Leonard Cohen, First Aid Kit, Fleet Foxes, Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones, Into the Wild, Wild, John Steinbeck, Lars Winnerbäck, Milk Carton Kids

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Spending the coronavirus lockdown in Ladakh in the Indian Himalayas. Backpacking all around California. Blown away not just by the beauty to be found there but by the openness and generosity of the people i met. Sleeping under the stars (excuse the cliché) in Yosemite and Joshua Tree National Park. Hitching (mostly) from Sweden to France was certainly interesting (& made memorable by a succession of lovely hosts). Well that’s more than one thing but there you go...

Teach, Learn, Share

There’s something to learn from everyone. But I’m always hungry to learn from people who have experience of living and travelling in alternative ways and with the simplest possible means, who show that money should have nothing to do with the wealth of experiences and encounters that we enjoy.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I’m a keen and curious listener and want ro learn something from everyone. A passion for and maybe some interesting perspectives on sustainability and alternative lifestyles. A few travel stories of course. Cooking together is an awesome way to hang out, though i don’t claim to be exceptional in the kitchen in any way
