About Me

I try to have a positive view to everything. I like to search for the good in everybody. Therefore I am a pretty happy guy.
I like to talk with people and share a laughter with them.
Nonetheless I can be quite serious and have deep thoughts. Sometimes I could argue for hours if I share some special Thought with someone. We talk about everything under the sun then.
I love breathtaking landscapes, good music and great art.
I like to meet inspiring people and to learn new things.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

It's simple. I want to leave my home and discover the great world.
What could have been a better start than the USA? Far from home, another continent, a big country full of cities, countryside, and nice people.
This is what I want to find doesn't matter where. Instead of enjoying vacations in a hotel, I want to meet people, make new friends, who show me their little world and inspire me.
On the other hand I am willing to host some people and share my world, show the little secret places, that make Rostock beautiful.

Interests

listening to music, playing the cello, the trumpet and a very little bit the piano, also singing (it's up to you to judge)
reading and writing (poems and stories), watching good movies
spending time with my friends
swimming, riding my bike, ...

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: actually every kind of music depending on situation and feeling.
Ever heard Orpheus in the Underworld by Jacques Offenbach to wake up?
Ever heard a piano version of Tu Vuò Fà L'Americano when riding your bike?
Ever sung Kindle my heart to sing a child to sleep?
I could go on for hours for the world is full of great music.
Movies: There are to many great movies to call one your favorite. But maybe Inception, Forrest Gump, Bridge to Terabithia and such are some of the best.
Books: Difficult question. Absolutely loved Game of Thrones (G.R.R. Martin) and the Indiana Jones trilogy by Rob MacGregor. Dracula by Bram Stoker. John Green is a great author but always writing about the Death.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have been traveling through the USA for about 6 weeks. The whole trip from New York in the East to San Francisco in the West, from Madison WI in the North to New Orleans in the South. Met great people, laughed, cried, lived. Just amazing.
I traveled alone, no one with me and have seen so much in such a short time. It was exhausting, but I would toadally do it again. Yes, toadally like the animal.

I was in Taizé, France, some years ago. We were in the church and shared ten minutes of silence. Suddenly the girl next to me began to cry. I gave her a handkerchief and hold her hand for the rest of the worship. Afterwards she hugged me, whispered Obrigado and left. I never saw her again and never found out why she had cried but I am happy I could help her and always keep that in my heart.
It's an experience that everybody can be connected to each other and nobody need to be alone. Why aren't we able to talk to everybody about everything?

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: I play the trumpet and learn playing the Cello, I speak German and English, I cook, ...
Learn: I am openminded to everything new as long as I can have a fun time doing it.
Share: good talks, many laughters, music, I know a lot about Rostock history of the University and good places to go (sightseeing and bars) as well.
