About Me
Hi guys!
My name's Jakob, i'm Austrian, living in Vienna. I just came back from a year abroad in Argentina but i'll still be travelling till end of September, that's why i can't receive people until October. I speak Spanish and English fluently and i'm native German speaker. I lived half a year in Costa Rica, almost a year in Argentina and recently two months in Barcelona and i'm a fanatic of the Latin American culture and ways of living.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I always felt that there are certain things that should be for free or at least shared. One of them are staying in a stranger's house while travelling ;) . This includes also free exchange of travelling experiences and tipps. I don't want people to refrain from travelling and seeing the world just because they can't afford staying there, so this is my way of helping people explore. Additionally, i like learning about new cultures, get to know people from around the world, and form new friendships; maybe even learn a little of a language i've never had the chance to.
Interests
Well, my interests lie mostly in learning about different cultures, reading books, listening to and playing music, playing video games, football, volleyball and tennis. My greatest hobby tho is definitely snowboarding. It's just pure freedom you feel when you feel the freezing eir cracking up your skin. ;) I also love showing people around a place they've never been, giving them the opportunity to find something out they probably wouldn't have with a tour; taking them to restaurants with local specialties and that sort of stuff.

Music, Movies, and Books
I listen to a lot of different styles of music, from electronic over indie and ska to various types of metal. I'm a music fanatic but have a very specific taste in it, although I'm always very open for suggestions.
I love movies too, so I like watching movies of every type, but my absolute favourites are Lucky Number Slevin, Warrior, Mr. Brooks and Interstellar.
I like reading books too, especially books by the Austrian author Wolf Haas and international post-apocalyptic and dystopian books like Gerorge Orwell's 1984 or Miller's "A Canticle for Leibowitz".
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've never considered anything i've done amazing, because i just do what i feel like. But i do look at other people and feel like: "That's awesome, i wanna do that someday!". Maybe other people might feel the same about me, who knows...
Teach, Learn, Share
Like i said, i'd love to learn and teach some language skills; share music and movies; talk about culture and even serious stuff if you're up for it. Oh, and i'd love to learn some foreign cooking skills, though i have none at all.
What I Can Share with Hosts
The experiences I made in South America have changed my life, so I hope to share some of my views and experiences and maybe recommend or share some advice on places in Argentina and Chile.
