About Me

Hello dear people from all over the world,

my name is Jakob, I'm 23 years old, I am studying Translation and I have been living in Leipzig for two years now.

I mostly find joy in simple things like a delicious meal, drinking a cold lemonade with my friends, swimming in a cool lake on a hot summer's day, listening to music, watching movies or playing videogames - I feel the most comfortable in smaller groups of people, and partying isn't exactly my thing, but I think I could describe myself as a nice person to be around.

Some references that also count for me, since we visited these people together, can be found here (from October 2013 to July 2014) https://www.couchsurfing.com/people/mayjaykatz/references

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

During a longer journey from 2013 to 2014 I was able to experience just how nice people can be by offering guests from all around the world a place to sleep in their house - In the best case, I would like to return the favors and make travelling easier for other people.

It's an easy to use platform and a great service to support internationality!

Interests

As I have tried to describe above, many simple things make me happy - here's a short list of what I love:
- Music
- Art
- Movies
- FOOD (Eating as well as Cooking)
- Videogames
- Animals
- Visiting and exploring nature (Although I should do that way more often)

Music, Movies, and Books

A wide array of music ranging from Thee Oh Sees over MF Doom, Movie Soundtracks and the fabulous works of Miles Davis to Godspeed You! Black Emperor.
With movies it is basically the same - at the moment, Interstellar might be my favorite, Quentin Tarantino never seems to fail, also amazing are some like Nacho Libre, Submarine and basically everything that comes from Mr. Wes Anderson!
Bookwise, I am a big John Irving fan!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have visited and shared the Thai Loy Krathong and Yi Peng Festival with a loved person, truly unforgettable moments.

I ate the absolutely best Pizza of my life in Torino with three lovely Italians and I hope we can meet very soon to do it again! Thanks to Nicolò!

Teach, Learn, Share

I would like to learn more about making music, but I am some kind of shy with that, so the chemistry would have to be right! Learning more about photography would also be awesome, and new recipes are always greatly appreciated!

Unfortunately, I do not have that many skills I could teach, I can do some screen-printing and cooking - but I can share some knowlegde about tasty lemonades that are available in Germany as well as my small (and slowly growing) music collection!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Stories, food, thoughts and experiences always make a good combination!
