About Me

After having lived in Spain and Belgium, I'll be moving to France next year. Currently I have a few weeks left and I'd like a chance to get to know the french culture before settling down somewhere!

I'm an easy going person but I do have a certain urge to tell and share my stories - be prepared for some talking :-)

My father was the one who brought me here; he has been cyclotravelling his whole life and most of the last years we did some trips together, also staying with private hosts. It just adds something to a journey that no hotel or hostel can offer: the people

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We have plenty of space and we can host up to 8 people. Because we live close to the dutch border, a lot of people going from Amsterdam to Berlin ask to stay with us for a night or two.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

England in 2006, a bicycle trip from Harwich to Land's End. 2008 a tour through Germany, from Holland to Poland and back to Holland. in 2013 we discovered the south of France. Wonderful times thanks to the wonderful people we met on the road!
In 2014, my brother, dad and I crossed France from the Massif Central to the Mediterranean Sea. It was a fun three week trip during which we had the pleasure to stay with private hosts many times.

In 2015, my father and me took the train to Portbou and took our bicycles to Madrid. Due to bad weather, we cheated a little and took a train-shortcut.

Now in 2016 I want to get my french skills back to what they used to be 3 years ago and for that purpose I want to tour through France and the French Alps!

Interests

After having lived in Spain, I discovered my interest in arts, especially abstract paintings and oil drawings. Now, that has not much to do with travelling but I do like talking about Gogh, Bosch, Dalí and what not.

A part from that I like to go the racetrack and try and see how fast I can go without falling. Ha ha.

Music, Movies, and Books

Stephen Kings The Stand
Javier Marías Mi corazon tan blanco

Music: I like everything that can be sung to easily (recently discovered young spanish Sofia Ellar and I'm totally hooked!)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

At the age of 17 I went to Spain, Segovia by motorcycle, for an internship with my now-good-friend Javier. The jouney was a four-day-trip about whose end my mother was more than relieved.

When I was ten, my father and I got lost en route and after 120 exhausting kilometers, I fell asleep at an italian restaurant. The italian Chef stood up long and talked to my dad so that I could get some hours of solid sleep before heading back to the host's house.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you some German, Spanish and English if you like and maybe I'll have the chance to show you how to prepare the famous James Bond Drink 'Vesper'.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Everything they ask me for! Mostly Respect, kindness and hopefully interesting conversation material!
