About Me
Nice to meet you!
My name is Jakub and I was born in Poland. When I was eight years old, I moved with my family to the United States. I've lived in Sendai, Japan for two years and currently work as a teacher in the United States. In my free time, I like to play water polo, sparrow dance (a traditional dance from Sendai), study Japanese, and travel. And of course, eat delicious food.
I have been to eight countries and during my two years in Japan, I've been in twenty prefectures. But, there are still so many more places I still want to visit!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Couchsurfing is a great way to meet new friends and to make the most of your traveling experience!
Meeting people when going somewhere new is just as important as seeing the place itself. I want to experience something other than the sightseeing.
Interests
I've been playing water polo since I was fourteen. While in university, I majored in Education and History, so I really enjoy going to museums and traveling to places with some kind of historical significance.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music:
I listen to anything! Please share your favorite artists with me!
Books:
The Old Man and the Sea, by Ernest Hemingway. Short and easy to read... He's my favorite author. All of his books are excellent.
Movies:
Star Wars, but the Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, and the Last Jedi were pretty bad.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I went on a 75km bike ride with my friend on Shimanami Kaidou (しまなみ海道), a route that connects Hiroshima Prefecture to the island of Shikoku.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I'm currently in the middle of looking for a new apartment, so I cannot host for the time being.
