About Me
* I'm a bit too busy at the moment and get quite many requests, so I can't respond to everyone sadly *
I come from the Czech Republic, I'm a student, musician, an enthusiastic person in general! I studied Computer Science in Prague, and then Sociology, Social Anthropology and Computer Graphics in Brno, I spent 11 years year playing with a band (https://placesmusic.bandcamp.com/), and I love to spend my time outdoors, hiking, camping, and I recently started climbing as well.
In 2019 I lived in Bergen, Norway for one semester, then I moved back to Brno to finish my master's degree and my thesis dealing with medical data visualization and learn lots of other interesting stuff. I also did a part-time job as a personal assistant for mentally disabled people and I am really grateful for that experience! After volunteering in Spain and Portugal for three months, I moved back to Bergen to start a PhD in bioinformatics and medical data science.
I think I'm an easy-going and open-minded person, an outgoing introvert. I like to be around people and talk, although I am mostly calm and quiet. Also, being an introvert by nature doesn't make you closed to anything new. In fact quite the opposite!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I like to travel on my own and meet up with new people out there. There's always a lot to share!
Would also like to give back to the community and host once in a while. I do keep myself pretty busy so I might not be available too often, but please do get in touch if you're visiting Bergen and looking for a roof over your head :)
My place is quite small, so won't be able to host you if you're two or more people looking to stay here for multiple days. But if you just need a place to crash for a night, that should be okay!
Interests
Music, in the first place.
Then travel.
I read quite a lot.
And I take photos.
And there's always time to hang out with friends.

Music, Movies, and Books
♫
My favourite music. Okay, that would be a long story. But basically the list goes all the way from (prog-)rock through psychedelia, post-(anything-you-imagine), some (alternative) pop, indie, shoegaze and electronic music all the way to rap, jazz, folk and some branches of metal. I know a lot of local Czech artists I can share :)
Some of my favourites: Pink Floyd, Steven Wilson, Ben Howard, Bon Iver, Radiohead, Sigur Rós, Alice Phoebe Lou, Moddi, Aurora, Ólafur Arnalds, Nils Frahm. But I have a lot of current obsessions with smaller bands, and Spotify downloads take up more space on my phone than all the other apps and data in total!
📖
Besides all the Terry Pratchett stuff I liked, for instance, David Mitichell's Cloud Atlas or Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer, and I recently enjoy books and stories by Ursula K. Le Guin. But I often read Czech authors (my favourites are Jan Balaban, Marek Sindelka, Jachym Topol). In social sciences, I am quite fond of Pierre Bourdieu, and my favourite anthropologists are Mary Douglas and Clifford Geertz.
🎥
As for movies, I prefer documentaries and slow movies, I'm not that much into action films (with the exception of Pulp Fiction). My favourite film event of the year is always the International Documentary Film Festival in Jihlava, Czech Republic.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Learn to trust new people? This is pretty amazing in this world. And once this happens it stays :)
Also, if you didn't try Workaway.info I suggest you give it a go, it's my favourite way of travelling and exploring places! (How else could I as a shepherd in arctic Norway move sheep by boat to an island where they live in summer?)
Teach, Learn, Share
Many things! I have a degree in Computer Science, but honestly, that might be the most boring part of my knowledge, unless you need my help with some programming or math homework :)
But I am also studying Sociology and Social Anthropology, and those give me a very nice point of view on our world, and the ironies and funny and sad situations our societies create. And I have traveled quite a few places, so I have many stories to tell, and I'm of course interested in hearing yours!
Or, if you are a beginner in playing the guitar, and would like to learn a few tips and tricks, I'm up for that!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I'd like to understand everybody! And since this wanting-to-understand has been happening for some years now, I think I have things to share. Let's just talk and see what can we share with each other!
Unfortunately I have lately been diagnosed with Crohn's disease, which means that I have some dietary requirements (basically a low-residue diet) so I might not be able to appreciate your cooking or go out for an interesting meal, and I shouldn't drink alcohol and coffee. But it doesn't prevent us from having a great time, right?
