Hello there!
My name is Jakub (Kuba for short) and I am an nineteen-year-old from Poland. I was born and raised in a small town in Silesia, an industrial region in southern Poland known mainly for its many mines and post-war sights. I graduated from a science-oriented high school in Katowice, the capital of my region, and am now studying Geography at Jagiellonian University in Cracow.
I would describe myself as an outgoing, sociable person. I love meeting people, making new friends and enjoying time spent with them. As a natural extrovert, I find pleasure in taking part in conversations and exchanging ideas with others - that is how great concepts are born. I am also quite ambitious, as I often strive for success in my everyday life. I have nothing against occasional rivalry, as it propels progress!
My main hobby is obviously geography - the study of the world surrounding us. I find that travelling provides us with tangible evidence contributing to our knowledge about both human and physical geography. Nonetheless, I want my focus area to be the physical aspects - geomorphology, climatology and hydrology. I also love the environment and feel an urgent need to protect it.
I am interested in linguistics. I have always been a fan of languages, as they give us an insight into the brain processes that make us think the way we think and do the things we do. Languages and changes occurring within them help us understand the idiosyncrasies of a person, society or nation.
I also enjoy sports - mainly swimming and volleyball. It's even better when they are performed at a beach during a warm, summer evening - that's probably my dream scenario. Sports are a great way of mingling with new people and learning about them.
