Overview
About Me
I study philosophy in Warsaw - this and the ancient culture are my main, both closely related, interests. In consequence, I spend most of my time at my desk or in a library leaned over books, what is - one could think - quite boring idea for a life, especially for youth.
Nevertheless going over the whole garden of earthly delights I couldn't imagine more exciting activity than this. To wake a voice of Aristotle, contemplate the nascence of Europe, read gestures of disputing Greeks from their grammar, fully understand
"-the rise and fall of an oak
-the rise and fall of Rome".
In response to a possible charge, that still it's very closed, indoor and moreover "past-ward" way of life, I could answer that without a word of maiores (eg. Z.Herbert, Cz.Miłosz, L.Kołakowski; two first - the greatest polish poets, third - philosopher), I wouldn't know the world. What I mean is if you want to understand better everything that surrounds you, paradoxically you need to separate yourself from it by a pile of books. The reason is quite obvious: an only tool that can deepen your insight is a human thought. (This paradox is only one case of a lot greater phenomenon: ancient strive between abstracta and concreta revealed itself here.)
And this little, hand-held philosophy one can transpose on the ground of thinking about travel.
The problem is not where you travel but how. Largely it's a matter of preparation to make your trip fruitful or simply pointless.
Ruins will be just ruins for a mere observer but for a connoisseur, it can be an important and very vivid experience.
In truth, you can find lush and vibrant world after crossing your shabby threshold, but usually, people are too lazy or too weary by their everyday life and prefer to make the voyage around the world or realize another "crazy" idea.
So the conclusion is, the real travel should be preceded by another travel - that in a library, between shelves. And only in that traveling becomes enriching experience, deepened by knowledge of the place one is heading for.
I was due to write a little about myself but I lost myself in that reasoning (a little bit too preachy I must say)... The point is that I am a calm and kind person, who simply travels for sightseeing and is always eager to talk about abstracta and concreta, and other things.
I can assure also that as a locataire I never want to cause any problems but always try to solve them.
