About Me

CURRENT MISSION
I live in Hawai'i and am going to graduate school to get a masters in fine art. I moved there in August 2022. I work on personal art projects, help people I care about with their own goals, check in with friends, try to build healthy habits and treat myself and others with kindness.

I still have my apartment in San Francisco. So if you're looking for a place to crash there I can be in touch with my roommates to accommodate you. I currently live on O'ahu in Hawai'i for my graduate studies. There is a place for you here as well :)

ABOUT ME
I love meeting people. They are truly the things that bind, ground, change, challenge, and shape us. The world is filled with so many wonderful and different sorts of astonishing people. I find that though I do move and leave places often. I have an active and intentioned ability to keep up with friends. I write lots of letters, make time to call, video chat, and visit. I make time for people, with this ability I am able to let go of the 'space' that holds us together and go forth into the world with my backpack. But if it were not for my connections and care for the ones I meet and treasure, I would be nothing but a mere wandering lost soul.

It is my friends, family, and the people of this world that bind me together.

I was very lucky to spend all of my 20s traveling the globe, predominantly using CouchSurfing. I have a lot of stories and even more adventures in me waiting to be experienced.

I am easy-going and living for the loss of control in 'the now'.

I eat kiwis like apples.

Philosophy
Time is our greatest mortal enemy. When viewed in a cosmic whole of all things that have ever existed we are mere specks of particles temporarily collected into complex conscious arrangements bound by time. You are alive and living now. Now is the envy of all of the dead.

Life is too short and there are too many things to experience. Human connections, art projects, collaboration, the follies of humanity, helping people, how to make the world a better place, climate change, the human body.

I am in a state of constant bewilderment that we are not all running feral through the streets, foaming at the mouth from dehydration, hysterically doubled over in awe, crying and laughing at the same time for the beauty and horror of the sheer impossibility of existence.

We have been born into single bodies, bordered by our skin and limited by the tools we have the ability, patience, intelligence, and grace to utilize.

The biggest reason we are on this planet is to connect with other living beings with the limited senses we have.

Connection, community, trust, love are the source of all other things worth living for.

Empathy first

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Host/be hosted

I have been using this platform since 2004. It certainly changed my life's trajectory, viewpoints and motivations.

This is what the internet was MADE for. Give without expectations and you'll be shocked at what comes back to you.

With the birth of AirBnB I have watched the culture of CouchSurfing change. I find that the people who are willing to share space, time, resources and warmth with a stranger in their home align with my own core pillars of how people could care for one another. This the network is so diverse and interesting we can always learn and expand with this temporary communal living experience.

I have made some great and very close friends from Couchsurfing. Michelle was one of the first people I ever hosted and now, that crazy mass of woman she is, has become a very close friend and travel partner. Evan and I met when I stayed with him in Seattle. Since then we have been traveling together, on and off since 2006. Hitting up 4 continents together!! Eamon is another who I have met in many locations all over time and space. There are many others. The list will fill as I interact more.

I look forward to being old and sharing my time with my close friends who grew from nothing more than a profile and a couch to surf. How this will change the world; how it HAS changed the world!

I have shared my home plenty of times. And have been a guest in others homes as well.
