About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Not to look back and say "I wish I had..." to say "I am glad I did!!"

ABOUT ME

I am living in Brunei until March of 2013 for my job and I work a schedule where I spend 28 days working and then I get 28 days off and I plan on spending as much of that time off traveling as possible.

I enjoy meeting new people and experiencing new things and I am very excited about the opportunities I have coming up to do those things. Most of my travels in the next year will be by myself so I am mostly looking at couch surfing as a way to meet locals rather than a way to save money (although that is a nice perk).

In the past 6 months I have converted to a vegetarian lifestyle. I do eat seafood here in Brunei because so many things are made with seafood paste and it is so fresh but when I am back in the states I don't eat any meat.

PHILOSOPHY

I don't believe in regret. I think looking back and wishing you had done things differently is a waste of energy so I try to make sure everything I do is in the moment and takes full advantage of the opportunities I have been given.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I would love to meet anyone traveling through Brunei and mostly looking to meet others on my travels. I want to experience the places I am visiting from a local perspective!!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have stayed with a few couchsurfers now, in Singapore, in Darwin, Australia, in Tokyo and Osaka, Japan, and in Taipei, Taiwan. All of my experiences have been wonderful and all of my experiences have been different. I have met several other surfers throughout my travels, traveled with one, and communicated with lots when preparing for my trips asking for advice and travel tips!

Interests

When I am not working or traveling I like to read and listen to music...I have an amazing amount of music with me all the time. I love meeting new people, trying new things, and I am an adrenaline junkie so anything on the high adventure spectrum I am drawn to!

Music, Movies, and Books

The Time Traveler's Wife, The Unbearable Lightness of Being, Bel Canto, Moulin Rouge, The Departed, Inception, Something Corporate, The Starting Line, The Beatles, Maroon 5...I like books that I can't put down, movies that make you laugh, cry, or that you have to watch again and again, and music you can dance and sing along to.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I recently hiked to the top of Mt Kinabalu in Malaysia and saw the sunrise from the summit. You can see forever up there and it is really magical.
I visited Ayers Rock in January and did the Sydney Harbor Bridge Climb which were both awesome experiences.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am looking forward to learning about all of the places I am going to travel from the people who live there, and to sharing what I have seen and done on my travels.

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Japan, Malaysia, South Korea, Taiwan

Countries I’ve Lived In

Brunei Darussalam, United States
