About Me

CURRENT MISSION

My mission is to experience the nuances of human culture, to view the human experience in all of its mad glory, to inspire creativity and to work for a society free of oppression.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe in the beauty of complete honesty. I hate to be lied to for the sake of security or comfort. The truth must be said and to keep it hidden is the greatest crime. With that said, I am not a mystical person. I'm not religious and hardly spiritual. I find wonder in everyday experience, in the immense depth of understanding and communication. To me there is no greater experience than to listen to someone else's story and to share my own. In the moments afterward, when we both seek to understand each other totally, it is in that seeking that I find the richness of the human experience.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am new to couch surfing but I intend to participate as both a host and a guest. I hope that I can provide others with a comfortable, open-minded place to spend the night or to spend the day. I also plan to take advantage of the kindness of others all over the world. I hope that when I stay on your couch, one day we'll be able to talk about all those things that we share in kind and that we differ on with the outcome of a mutual learning experience.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have never couchsurfed with a stranger although I spent a good portion of my formative years sleeping on a friend's cushions. Most of my travel accommodations have been with family or in hostels. While I love the experience of staying in hostels, I've learned that you never experience more earnestly a culture than when you stay in someones home and enjoy the same comforts and pleasures that they do.

Interests

Post-modern philosophy, social justice, Marxism, pacifism, vegetarian cuisine, independent cinema, history, linguistics, science, personal and communal growth, gardening, US and foreign politics, local music, community outreach and development, the grand symposium of human thought and communication.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love art in all of its forms. Rather than list every movie that made me feel, every musician that resonated in my consciousness or every book that made me dream; I'll list my current favorites(for the sake of brevity). My favorite film is Sounds From the Second Floor by Henenke. My favorite album is Napa Asylum by Sic Alps. My favorite book is The Wind-up Bird Chronicles by Haruki Murukami.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A few minutes ago I made my girlfriend smile. It was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am willing to tell you everything I know. I'm willing to learn everything you know. Why shouldn't we always view ourselves as the subject of a coexisting duality, teacher and student simultaneously.

I suppose, more specifically, I can teach you about global politics, technology, western philosophy, and I'm a certified English language teacher.

Countries I’ve Visited
