Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

When I get back this fall, we will begin hosting people from CS at Idahostel whenever we have space. I would also encourage folks traveling through Boise to reach me through the 'contact' page on idahostel.com for fun things to do around the area.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

On Jost Van Dyke, BVI, I missed the ferry back to Tortola (where I was staying) and ended up spending the night on the floor of an unfinished hillside shack with some super-cool locals. The next day, we cooked breakfast, traded a few stories and they gave me a ride back to the port. Turns out one of them was friends with an electrician I used to work with in North Carolina. Small world. One of my favorite surfing experiences of all time!

Music, Movies, and Books

Anything good.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

1. Riding my motorcycle through Batopilas Canyon in North-Central Mexico. The switchbacks on that road are insane--thugs, bandits, scorching heat, scenery--truly a wild experience!
2. Hosting a group of Chinese nursing students for 2 months. Opened my eyes to the vastness of China and complexities of the developing world.
3. Ran a boat down the Grand Canyon for 3 weeks. Incredible experience that I would recommend to anyone looking for an adventure!

Teach, Learn, Share

When running, riding, or driving away from a dangerous situation, never look over your shoulder until you are completely out of harm's way.
