Overview
About Me
What's up! My name is James, I went to school for aerospace engineering, and I worked for a year as a mechanical engineer, and then I spent almost a year in Europe, 9 months of which was in France, first working as an au pair but then just taking french at the local university. Am technically certified at B2 French (but if you spoke to me there'd be lots of gaps and pauses)
I'm super social. I love meeting new people, making new friends, and chilling and talking. I want to learn about you, your city, your outlook on life, everything!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm on couchsurfing to try to explore the world! I've lived in the Midwestern US my entire life and would like to see what's out there. Love connecting with people, chatting, having a beer (on me), and experiencing life as you do!

Music, Movies, and Books
My music taste started just with the Beatles. I thought it'd be cool to be into them, so I listened, trying to convince myself that I liked their music. Eventually, that became the case. I love them and their music so much. But I also vibe heavily with rap, jazz music, some classical, other 60s-70s, etc. Pink Floyd, Kendrick Lamar, Tyler the Creator, Radiohead, Cage the Elephant, KNEEPCAP, Coldplay, etc. Eclectic mix.
For books I generally read nonfiction, personal development stuff like Four Hour Work Week, Atomic Habits, and Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance. But recently I've started Project Hail Mary because it's coming out soon and I love it.
I am a huge movie guy. Some of my favorites (in no order) are:
There will be blood
Whiplash
The lighthouse
12 Angry men
Ladri di biciclette
Megamind
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I sang as lead man in Fête de la Musique (a national french music festival) with one week to prepare singing 13 songs with a band that needed a singer
Teach, Learn, Share
I have tons of hobbies! I can teach you how to play guitar or swing dance (I've been dancing for over 3 years and I'm constantly getting better), I can help with dating (I think I'm pretty good at interacting with girls but I'm still learning lmao).
I would love to share views of the world or small parts of the world. I think every opinion, whether it's one that I share or not, is interesting to consider.
I'd love to learn about other people in other parts of the world (even in the US). What are you like? How's your life going? Are you happy? If so how'd you achieve that?
What I Can Share with Hosts
I keep very clean, by habit. I'm not crazy about it but I keep my space picked up. I can clean, cook food, watch an animal, help with repairs or handywork (I've not done any but I'm 100% sure I can learn)
