About Me
Married, father of three. Most of my free time is spent training with Imua, a 6 man Hawaiian canoe club.
Boy scout leader 15 years.
I like the beach, mainly boogie boarding and sailing.
I like hiking, but I'm older and wiser. I wouldn't go on sketchy or muddy hikes.
Hosted many people a few years back. We had one bad experience with a surfer that turned my wife off. I'm starting back up while my wife is away.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
We've always had a tree house in our big banyan tree. When I was a kid, it was just a box. But it always filled up with leaves and bugs. A few years back I decided to build a real room, that would stay clean. I framed it use standard double wall construction, i got 3 windows and all the structural wood from Reuse Hawaii. Had my son do the wiring as a learning experience. But since then, it's pretty much unused.
So I thought why not let young people couch surfing it. Since both my wife and I work during the week, and allowing strangers free range of our home when we are not there is a bit of a stretch, I decided to make the tree house more self-reliant. We had a second hand futon couch on our porch, and I took it apart, custom sized it so it fit the room, added wood rails to the wall, and now have a couch bed that when down, creates a full size bed that fills the whole room, with just 6 inches to spare. I bought a small camping toilet for those late night emergencies, added a gas burner from and old gas barbeque to outside wall.
If you are a camper at heart, the tree house will feel like a 5 star hotel. It's not for everyone, the room creaks like a boat, when the wind blows (ear plugs help). During the week I work from home. So you are on your own. I can play tour guide more on the weekends.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In the summer of 2015, I took all my kids and my sister and her daughter on a hunt for Forrest Fenn's Treasure. I was so sure I knew where it was. It was a great experience, but we came back empty handed.
