About Me

I'm a laid back kiwi guy (39 years old) living on New Zealand's Westcoast South Island with my little dog (he's friendly and excitable and loves meeting guests) - we would be happy to share our house for a night or two with travelers looking to spend some time in this awesome part of the world.

Couch surfing is cool because I get to meet such a variety of cultures and hear stories from people all over the globe. Tell me about your favorite food, music and the best scenery you have found in NZ......

My home is near the beach and river, and it's a good base to go on some of the Kawatiri walking trails near the Westport town, rivermouth and beach.

On a nice calm night, the North Beach (5mins walk) is a awesome place for lighting a beach fire, nice sunset views and fishing in the surf. There is also some of the South Island's best surfing break nearby and a good lagoon for SUP boarding and kayaking at high tide of that's your thing.

I can point you in the direction of the Seal colony and Penguin spots, some excellent walks around the Granite rock headlands at Omau and if you like shellfish, share my best mussel gathering spot with you if you want to gather some amazing seafood for dinner (just promise to keep it secret!).

I have a second property further North near Karamea (1hour drive) if you need a place to pitch a tent and are visiting that part of the 'Coast or need advice on what to do up there and where to go.

I like a wine, cider or rum - and to share some stories or a good meal. I'm gluten fee and people describe me as weird because I dont eat potatoes or corn haha. I'm a bit of a carnivore and will eat anything from the ocean.

I like to cook and learn about other cuisine. LBGTQ friendly and accepting of all cultures and ethnicity. I generally have a preference for hosting travellers between 20-40 years of age and a 1 night stop will suit my schedule best.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet cool people and have a beer or rum and hear your stories about NZ and abroad.

To allow you to meet my super cute dog.

To build a network of cool people around the globe :)

To meet a hot Texan girl who can tell me about texan BBQ in the 1st person.
