About Me

I have a healthy appreciation for the world and everything in it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've only recently gained some free time to take some longer trips away, what better way to do it other than meeting new people along the way?

Interests

I love being outside and active, hiking, climbing, kayaking, biking, swimming, etc etc...

Books are amazing, a window into another person's outlook on life, in a way nothing else can ever replace, I love them.

Meeting new people, late night conversations after a bottle of wine...

Music, Movies, and Books

I guess like anyone, my tastes vary quite a bit.

Folk music is something I've grown up around, all of the old 60's and 70's rock and alternate stuff I think is brilliant. Blues, Jazz, Classical, Hip hop, Electronic music all have a spot on my hard rive somewhere.

Movies, well, I'm really not that much of a movie or TV guy, when I watch something I really have to enjoy it. Quentin Tarantino, Cohen Brothers, Stanley Kubrick, some of my favorite directors.

Books, well, I'm just turning the last pages of Angela's Ashes, that really is a great book. Some of my favorites off the top of my head, George Orwell, Tolkien, Ernest Hemingway, Douglas Adams, Harper Lee, Alexander Dumas.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Wow, that really is a hard one.

I once drove across Australia in the middle of summer, leaving the day after Christmas with a cyclone on my heals and every mechanic on the way closed, all my worldly possessions packed onto a trailer or strapped to the roof, and the dog on the passenger seat. Six days, 5500km, New Years on the Nullbour and a couple of break downs later I made it back in time to catch my return flight back to work :(

Teach, Learn, Share

Yes, I agree, more nobler aspirations I know not!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Well, aside from my company, however droll that may be, I'm a handy enough guy, I'll white wash your fence or mend your roof for a spot on the floor. I'm not claiming any particular ability, although I do enjoy cooking and would gladly do so for you.
