About Me

My name's James, although I'm often given a nickname such as JD, Dobby and Dobbers. I'm from the UK but I've lived in Bangkok for over 2 years now. I'm an English teacher :).

I love my job and I love my students, there's nothing better than having a class that love learning.

I'm kind of new to this so I understand people may be nervous about meeting, hosting me or staying with me. But if you have any questions just ask, I'll answer everything I can. I don't bite, I promise :).

I'm a vegetarian, but I'd be happy to cook for you! Although I'm not promising that it will taste good!

If you're ever in Bangkok then let me know it would be great to hear about your travels and life experiences.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on CS to meet new people and hopefully learn something about them and their lives.

I also think it's a fantastic idea and can't wait to be part of the community.

Interests

I love traveling, meeting new people and experiencing new cultures. Although that's probably pretty common in the couch surfing community. That's part of the reason I'm here!

I love exploring new places, let's say 'off the tourist trail'. I'd love to explore where you live and of course I'd be more than happy to show you around Bangkok.

I also enjoy tea (I'm too British) in the daytime or a beer at night, so let me know if you're free!

I love football and my team is Liverpool.
I also love walking and hiking. I climbed the highest mountain in Vietnam 2 years ago and I eventually want to do a trek in the Himalayas.

I also love cycling and exploring places by bike.

Music, Movies, and Books

I can listen to all kinds of music depending on my mood, but I often listen to alternative rock.

I love animated films! I love Pixar films such as Monsters Inc and Inside out! I also love Wreck it Ralph, How to train your dragon and Spirited Away.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My profile picture is me at the top of the highest mountain in Vietnam which was pretty cool. But my most amazing experience was finding a remote village in Laos, it was down the end of a very long dirt road and the houses were all wooden. They were having a birthday party and when they saw us they gave us food, drink and they danced with us. It really made me appreciate how amazing people can be despite cultural and language barriers.

Teach, Learn, Share

As an English teacher you can obviously practice your English with me if you want and maybe teach me a bit about your language too!

I'm also learning Thai, I'm not an expert but I can certainly help your understand some basic phrases and that will be useful in your trip around Thailand.

I would love to hear about all your travel adventures and hopefully I can share some of mine.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can offer you good company, a smile and hopefully a laugh! I'll tell you about my experiences and you can tell me about yours. I look forward to meeting you!
