I went to school for Biological science, and pursued my passions for music and surfing on the side. I surf almost everyday and have been so for 12 years. I grew up in Los Angeles and spent a lot of time at places like Venice Beach and Malibu's points. I play the piano (jazz and blues) and a bit of the guitar and like to go to concerts when I can. When Im not surfing I love spending time in good company with close friends and new friends. I love learning about new ways of living via different cultures.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to be apart of a community of travelers and I hear couch surfing is a great way to get to know some local folks. I have always thought that the best way to get to know a town or village is to visit the place with someone who has spent a lot of time there. Some of my fondest memories traveling has just been when I got to hang out with a new group of friends from a different area, to live like a local even if it is only for a short time.

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to a lot of different kinds of music. My dad was a classical musician and ragtime piano player, thus Scott Joplin will always have a special place in my heart. I listen to a lot of jazz (Gregory Porter, Mel Torme). I play and respect traditional country blues (Ray Charles, Memphis Slim). But also I enjoy popular music and also latin dance music.

I don't have a favorite book, but currently I am reading some books on alternative medicine.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was granted the honor of receiving a Bridges to Stem Cell Research Internship from the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine. In this I interned at the Salk Institute in La Jolla San Diego for 1 year. I was given the opportunity to study and cultivate a project in one of the forefront research labs concerning the nature of Major Depressive Disorder.

I am more into learning than sharing. But I have experience teaching surfing as well as the basics of music for piano.

I would love to spend time with people who are passionate about something, anything. I also would love to learn more about Basque Culture and history.
