Hi, I'm James. I love travelling and adventuring both while travelling and while at home. When I am home I like hiking, exploring my city, and either performing music or going to concerts.

I am quite new to couchsurfing, but have joined to meet up, learn from, or exchange experiences with new people while travelling and at home.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

There are not many other places where you can genuinely connect with locals and hear about interesting travel stories than on couchsurfing

Interests

Music and adventuring are two of my main interests.

For music, I play Bassoon in a couple of orchestras. Additionally, I like seeing live concerts and going to festivals (mostly electronic or indie/alternative).

For adventuring, I achieve this either in travel or exploring my own area in more depth. When I travel I like to be surprised and find off the beaten path locations or learn more from locals. While at home, I explore parks, hike, or try to find unique events to attend.

Music, Movies, and Books

Coming of age movies (e.g. Lady Bird, Little Miss Sunshine) and emotional dramas (e.g. Moonlight, A Separation) are my two favorite movie genres.

For music, I listen primarily to a mix of electronic, indie/alternative, and classical/orchestral

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Feel free to ask me about any of the places I've been. Lots of stories from hikes, hostels, and the inevitable getting ill while travelling.

In peak covid, I biked to all ~125 parks in Oakland, CA (where I was living at the time).

I've crossed borders and gone through passport control with almost every mode of transit (plane, car, bus, train, ferry, walking - I just need to bike across a border)
