About Me

Hello there! I'm a 23 year old from the UK who has been travelling for just over a year doing various workaways and jobs and seeing as much as I can! I recently graduated in Politics, Philosophy and Economics and I am looking to keep travelling. At the moment I am teaching sailing in the Middle East, however I am looking to go back to Vietnam and beyond to teach English and perhaps find further workaway opportunities to meet new people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Whilst travelling my favourite times have been when living in local areas and getting to know different cultures and ideologies, and I'd like to continue doing that using this great platform more frequently. I also love the idea of hosting people in the future to keep meeting new influences and helping people to see my side of the UK.

Interests

I have a lot of interest in Politics and Philosophy, especially seeing how opinions and systems are different around the world, and how people view politics and shape their society.

I regularly listen to music and podcasts; recently I have been listening to more Hip Hop and Jazz but have always grown up with British Rock and Indie music. I used to play Piano and Trumpet and it is something I hope to get back to. In terms of podcasts I love listening to various history, politics and comedy podcasts as well as keeping up with football and cricket in the UK through podcasts.

I have always played various sports for fun, and used to compete internationally in Catamaran Sailing, choosing University over professional sailing. However I still love to be on the water, and enjoy teaching sailing as well as windsurfing and kitesurfing.

I have been trying to keep myself healthy with running and yoga however I am a bit useless with staying on a motivated routine with this!

Music, Movies, and Books

Currently I am listening to a lot of Jazz Rap/Hip Hop and British Rock/Britpop - all time favourites include Stone Roses, Beatles, The Clash, Bowie, Pulp, Gorrilaz, Foals, Jamie T, Mac DeMarco, Lorde, The Streets, Nujabes, Rejje Snow etc. I always love hearing new things and have an open mind with music.

Favourite movies are Trainspotting, Dr Strangelove, Submarine, American Beauty, LOTR

Books - Been enjoying Kurt Vonnegut recently, have read a fair bit of Political/Economic theory and classic Philosophy, also enjoy non-fiction such as Sapiens.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Won the Under-19 Catamaran Sailing World Championships in 2013 and competed across the world!

Teach, Learn, Share

I always love to teach Sailing and watersports in general, and love exchanging languages. I like to discuss different political systems around the world and different ideologies. I would love to learn how to cook different cuisines and maybe some more yoga! I have some writing skills which I'd be happy to use to help people if needed.
