About Me

I'm an aspiring Actor and MC; I was born in San Jose, CA and raised in San Rafael, CA from the age of 3. The youngest of three siblings, I have two older sister's.
Though I suffer from severe depression and anxiety (I try and conceal it as best I can, but I just want to be real and completely honest basically) I love to laugh, go on walks/hikes and just generally have a good time (is this sounding ridiculously cliché? I feel like I'm writing on a dating profile right now...).
I tend to think I have an ok sense of humor though it can be bitingly self deprecating at times, but the truth hurts don't it? If you can, might as well laugh about it. To quote one of my favorite movie's "If you can't laugh at yourself, life is going to seem a whole lot longer than you'd like."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm living in New Mexico at the moment and am looking to make it out to LA.

Interests

Acting, Reading, Listening to music, writing music, watching TV/movies, playing video games (though the "adult" part of me feels lazy as hell when I do play them now, and I feel like I should be doing something more productive.)

Music, Movies, and Books

I love movies, from classics like Casablanca, comedies, drama, psychological thriller's all the way to stuff like Garden State (arguably my favorite movie actually).
Music, I was definitely brought up on classic and alternative rock (they will always hold a special place in my heart and as I get older these genres become more and more steeped in nostalgia for me).
The Beatles, Fleetwood Mac, Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Pink Floyd, The Moody Blues, R.E.M., Simon & Garfunkel, Nirvana, Elton John (and other's I'm just not listing).
I branched out on my own to more psychedelic stuff like Grateful Dead, Jimi Hendrix (I went through a short lived Phish phase hahaha).
Nowadays from about 18 to now (I'm 22 at the moment) it's been predominately hip hop of the 90's.
Nas, Pac, Big, Wu Tang, Big L, A Tribe Called Quest, Black Star, with a couple exceptions from today's generation of rappers being Kendrick Lamar and Mick Jenkins, there are probably a few more of today's rap artists that I listen to as well, but I don't really vibe off the message/music most rapper's put out in this era, plus unless it's Jazz or Classical music really, I'm pretty big on lyricism. I've been in plenty of musicals myself and so musical theatre will always hold a special place in my heart as well, even if I don't tend to listen to it on the daily.

As far as books go I'm big on the classics as well (which I guess vary depending on your opinion of what classic is).
East of Eden, 1984, The Fountainhead, Atlas Shrugged, To Kill A Mocking Bird, One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, Earth Abides (great, great book that tragically few people I've met have even heard of), Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter (which though the Harry Potter series is relatively new by comparison, I think we can all agree these books are or will be classics, let's be real)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have a complete fear of heights and for one of my birthday's I (possibly foolishly) went sky diving with my sister. I'm not going to say I conquered my fear (it was one of the scariest things I've ever done and am still totally afraid of heights), however I did face my fear head on, and for that I can be proud of I suppose.
