About Me
CURRENT MISSION
I am making friends from around the world during my PhD so that once I am done, I can travel from friend-to-friend!
ABOUT ME
Hi, I'm James! I've joined couchsurfing to help me meet new people from around the world. Whenever I travel I seem to meet people from about 20 countries all at once, so why can't I do the same in London? :). I've met so many inspiring and downright awesome folks, and hope to meet many more.
I come from a small town in Scotland, so a love of exploring the countryside runs through me. I love to get up high on hills, mountains, buildings and towers when visit somewhere new so I can get a feel for the places I go! Exploring new lands is my passion in life, but mainly for the people.
I study neuropsychology as a PhD and spend much of my time putting people in an MRI scanner and getting fascinated at the results! The PhD allows me the flexibility to do a bit of travelling and to possibly host in future.
Be well :D
PHILOSOPHY
Unless you are trapped out in the wilderness all alone, don't look for the things in life that offer survival value. Instead seek that which gives value to survival.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm still working out how I will participate as I am new to join, but I have been to a couple of really casual events in Grenoble and loved the chance to gather up a few bored people on a weekend and end up having a fantastic multicultural time. I will try the same in London.
I am also keen to meet people who speak Norwegian and cook them a couple meals, take them out to an event or buy some beers or coffee if they would help me improve :)
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Just stated in Grenoble during a wee holiday. It was excellent and there seemed to be someone ready for anything.

Music, Movies, and Books
For all of them, I love if they tell a good story! The right music at the right time can make me love pretty much anything, and most of my favourite music I associate with the important people I've met and places I've been.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Climbing a 60 foot tree at the farmland I stayed at in Norway with the Dad of the family who lived there. The views!
Or swimming in a lake in the middle of nowhere.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you to juggle, to play some basic things on piano, love to help you with English if you struggle on some things. If you can teach me Norwegian or little bits of your own languages I would be very happy. New skills always welcome!
