About Me

Hi there! My name is James and I am 21 years old. I hail from Portland, Oregon and I am currently finishing up my undergraduate degree in political science and business management! A few of my hobbies are reading, working out, playing rugby union, meditating, cooking specialty meals, and watching indie films. I also enjoy hiking, playing video games from time to time, and watching old cartoons.

21 | USA College graduate | Rugby player who loves..........
good people, good jokes, and good food. Definitely good food.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The reason I am on Couchsurfing is because since I was very young, I have long followed the social "norm" of how I should structure my life. Well, one day I started to play rugby and suddenly my life changed forever. I found myself making rash, wild choices to make my life less "boring" and "normal". Regardless of this desire, I still struggled to gain the confidence to really do anything I wanted. But I feel that Couch surfing will aid my quest of traveling the world as much as I can.

Basically the reason = want to change my life + travel + meet new people + learn more about myself + find some good food + play rugby everywhere

Music, Movies, and Books

Favorite Books: Memiors of a Rugby Playing Man, The Art of War, The Odyessy, Treasure Island, Robinson Crusoe, etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

On a whim and a bit of luck, I once got a summer job working as a "house host" for a international home design company and worked the entire summer walking around a 1.96 Million USD home making sure everyone was well attended on their tour.

I also carry an unofficial world record!

Teach, Learn, Share

To be completely honest, I am not sure what this section "Teach, Learn, Share" means but I'll have a crack at it.

I would like to TEACH others (while I travel and stay) that regardless of what people might say, there are people out there with a good heart. Also maybe some funny stories and how to snap with all of your fingers.

I would like to LEARN about other cultures and regions. As an american, I feel like I might be slightly blinded by the massive media within my country. Therefore, I would like to learn about and enjoy as many people and cultures as I can!

I would like to SHARE my story, who I am, a warm hug and smile, and my knowledge of the world I have come to know and continue to learn more about.

What I Can Share with Hosts

How rugby has changed my life forever for the better, the crazy people I have met in my life, funny stories about my unofficial "world record", some really punny jokes, some strange movie titles for them to check out, stories about my family and its weird connection to history, and a warm, open mind and hug!

Perhaps one day I can show you around Portland, Seattle, or San Francisco!
