About Me

Hi all

The name's Jamie. I'm a half English and half Scottish chap living in London - who loves travelling. I've been told I'm cliche english (in a positive way). I'm a polite chap, friendly but not imposing, caring but not nosy. I enjoy having fun and meeting people, but can probably be a bit shy at times too. I'm house trained, tidy and working on becoming a tolerable cook.

I'm just as happy to sit relaxing companionably in the sun with a book, a chess board or cards as I am to get off my backside and go do or see something different or go for a walk in the country. Good wine always goes down well to.

I have a passionate interest in history, ruins, bits of trivia. you name it. I do try not to get sidetracked too often, but I will admit it can happen.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Well it's summer, and I'm off to Italy. Due to a friend dropping out on me, I've been left without a travel companion and don't fancy exploring entirely on my own. I hope to maybe bump into kindred spirits on route, but also really like the idea of maybe sharing some time with a friendly local rather than the slight craziness that is hostels all the time. Thus...couchsurfing.com

I shall be in Verona seeing friends at the end of June, but have shall be taking a train into Venice on the 29th June and free after that.

I've yet to explore the North of Italy, so I plan to see the sights. I was thinking of exploring Venice and then making my way south via Ferrara, Bologna, Florence etc before flying back from Pisa. My travel plans are pretty fluid. I have no hotel/hostel booked after Venice - I just need to be in Pisa by mid day on the 10th.

My plan is basically just to take it easy, exploring, see some of the big touristy places but also just enjoy the sun and culture of italy, perhaps for some of in a café with a book and a glass of wine overlooking a gorgeous view.

If I feel like it I might hire a car and go for a drive/explore in the countryside a little off the beaten track.
