Overview
About Me
I am a single, retired physician/surgeon residing alone on my 3 acre estate in Maui, Hawaii, USA. I currently do substitute teaching grades K-12 in all subjects for the Hawaii Department of Education, and all programs of the Hawaii Job Corps. In 2003 I fully retired from my practice of medicine & surgery. I have 5 adult children who live independently in Hawaii, Nevada, Idaho and Ohio.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am an extrovert who truly enjoys people from everywhere. My home is very large and my property is somewhat like a resort. I have visited most of the world, and hosted 3 dozen exchange students since 1974. I am anxious to make new friends by opening my home to travelers.
Interests
My passions include travel, cooking, smooth jazz, daily power walks, hiking, fine dining, the arts, nature, history, ancient numismatics, my exotic classic car, Rotary, my cultural club, teaching any subject, my poker club, casinos, family and friends.

Music, Movies, and Books
Smooth jazz, classical, rock n roll, and pop are my musical tastes. I'm a bit of a cinemaholic; entertaining all genre except animation and musicals; but especially movies based on true stories and events. Non fiction is my reading preference primarily.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I have visited all 50 states in the USA, and most of the planet.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach cooking, share the Island of Maui and hope to learn more about other cultures.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I'm happy to share my culinary talents, medical skills and numismatic expertise with hosts.
