CURRENT MISSION
A life free of worries
ABOUT ME
I'm a university lecturer at Norwich University of the Arts.
My parents are English and Northern Irish. I grew up oscillating between Cambridge and rural Norfolk in the east of England, and have since lived, worked and studied there, in Winchester, Sheffield, Belfast, Montréal, Strasbourg and Glasgow. We recently moved from Glasgow to Norwich, having lived in Scotland for about four years.
PHILOSOPHY
Humanist / aetheist. Please don't bring religion into our conversations.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm new to CS, reluctantly giving up the once wonderful Hospitality Club. You can find my complete profile and extensive references over there - http://secure.hospitalityclub.org/hc/travel.php?cid=jamesbrownontheroad
I host and I'm delighted to answer questions about making the most of your trip to Glasgow, Scotland or the UK. I travel a bit too much for either my carbon footprint or my bank balance, but I am well placed to give you some tips on low cost train, bus and air travel.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
None on CS, but through Hospitality Club I've hosted dozens of guests in Belfast, Montréal and Glasgow, and benefited from exceptional hospitality across Europe and North America (all references available on my HC profile).Longest stay: I was asked to cat sit for a week and ended up house sitting for nine months. Most memorable stay: meeting my fiancé who hosted me in Chicago.
Interests
Film, theatre, music, eating out and especially travel, whether it's low budget trips in my own country or annual blowouts somewhere different.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
All the life changing experiences have been outwardly very modest; a coast to coast trip across America by train, for instance, or a two day camel trek through the Wadi Rum desert in Jordan. Just great opportunities to re-connect with the world around me and forget about where I had come from or where I might be going.
Teach, Learn, Share
Although I'm disastrous at learning languages, I enjoy discussing linguistic and cultural differences.
Countries I’ve Visited
