Sobre mí

I'm a recent graduate and aspiring writer from London, England. Last summer I won a place as a finalist in a travel writing contest for The National Student, a popular UK publication. I embarked on a European coach adventure, blogging about my experiences on the way. I enjoyed it so much that I'm doing it again this summer by train, seeing lots of new destinations. I can't wait to see new places, meet friendly new people and enjoy new experiences!

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

This is a very spontaneous trip and I haven't planned my route particularly thoroughly, I will be going wherever my heart takes me.

Couchsurfing is a great way to find places to stay whilst remaining flexible, and an amazing way to meet lots of wonderful people while doing so.

Música, películas y libros

I love music from pretty much any genre, including but by no means limited too: Alt-J, Foals, The Smiths, Pixies, Led Zep, Pink Floyd, Kygo, Nirvana, Bob Marley, The Doors, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Florence + The Machine, Kendrick Lamar, ChVches, Daughter, the xx, Arctic Monkeys, The Libertines, James Brown, Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Red hot Chili Peppers, Oasis, Tears for Fears, Pulp, Kanye West, Echo and the Bunnymen and The Cure.

I think that music from all genres has the potential to carry real passion and meaning, and while I admit I have preferences I don't like the way some people declare their genre superior to all others and dismiss everything else. Whilst there is plenty of trash out there, post music has the potential to carry real meaning and even teach us lessons to take with us in life, it's just unfortunate that most of the time we aren't really listening.

I love a good book and it would be hard to pick a favourite. I had a big Orwell phase a couple of years back, and as well as the obvious 1984 and Animal Farm I particularly enjoyed Down and Out in London and Paris. I've recently begun on the long path of getting in touch with my spiritual side and the most recent books I read was 'be here now' by Ram Dass. I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in that kind of stuff or feeling confused by the world, it really spoke to me.

Algo increíble que he hecho

Jumped out of a plane at 10,000 ft and went diving in a coral reef (not at the same time unfortunately)

Enseña, aprende, comparte

I'd love to to learn all about the cities I visit from my hosts and I always love hearing about other people's travel adventures if they're willing to share. I'd also love some help learning the basics of the local language and am more than happy to share some of the amusing little quirks, idioms and expressions of English in return.

I've been a vegetarian for a few months and plan on sticking to it, hopefully becoming vegan in the long term. Of course I love meeting new people regardless of what they eat, but if anyone wants to share with or even teach me a favourite veggie recipe or two don't hesitate to get in touch.
