Hey, I'm James! I currently live and study in Edinburgh. First and foremost, I enjoy meeting people (as I'm sure anyone reading this does also). I very much enjoy good media and art of any sort, and since I study Physics I have an interest in 'sciency things' also. I hope you will let me show you my city, and bask in all its Scottish glory! Oh, I also enjoy a good drink, so if you do too then that would bode very well with me.

Two reasons. Firstly (as mentioned above) I very much enjoy to meet new people and expand the scope of the people that I know. Secondly, I Iove to travel - Couchsurfing seems to be the friendliest and most wallet happy way to do this.

My favourite films are all pretty much modern day classics with a few exceptions. Notable mentions that are not the typical film favourite include Where the Wild Things Are, Perfect Sense, There Will be Blood, Room, American Beauty and The Prestige. Directors I love include Woody Allen, Chris Nolan and Lenny Abrahamson.

As for Books it's kind of hard to boil down a favourite. Currently I am very much enjoying Dostoevsky and Orwell. I read a multitude of fiction and non-fiction, but I am generally more interested in books that have already become classics so to speak.

Musically genres I enjoy are Rock and Roll, Indie and Piano Pop. I am currently listening to the likes of Bob Dylan, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Arcade Fire, Artic Monkeys, Ludovico Einaudi amongst others. I very much enjoy Spotify's numerous playlists, and this is where I in fact get most of my new music.

I once organised a 'Pub Tour' around Edinburgh which went down a charm. The difference between a 'Pub Tour' and a 'Pub Crawl' is all down to class. Generally one involves 7-10 pubs in one night with a half pint at each pub. Perfect amount of alcohol such that you don't feel too drunk or weighed down, and it's also more wallet friendly. I wore a top hat and a velvet jacket. I also had a sign. It was class.
