About Me

I have just finished a van road trip around Britain this summer ('22). I bought a van back in March, stripped it out and converted it into a camper - and what a fun project that was! The adventures that ensued saw me exploring England, Scotland and Wales, as well as having time to focus on myself!

I have always been a free spirit, but it really took off for me around 10yrs ago, when I lived in New Zealand for 3yrs. Since then, I have travelled a fair amount all over, and lived in several other countries. However, the UK has been where I have eventually returned, for varying reasons.

Travelling has enabled me to live a fulfilling life; not via ticking off countries, but rather giving me experiences, opportunites, challenges... that have helped me grow so much as an individual. Learning about different cultures, connecting with other individuals, constantly seeing the world from different perspectives.

In my 30's, I have been on more of a spiritual journey. A journey to really look deep within; to confront previous life trauma, to make peace, to move forward. I am very happy to be in my 30's and excited for the continued growth ahead.

I love the big outdoors and what mother nature freely provides. I enjoy exploring cities and learning about the history and culture, but ulimately I am happiest when I am out in nature, hiking in the mountains, swimming in a lake, being free. I have become a very independent person over the years. I enjoy company of others, but not really a fan of being in large groups of people. I prefer smaller groups, more intimate connections.

I also enjoy my own company. I have had a lot fo people ask me if I get lonely travelling solo. My answer these days: sometimes I can feel more lonely in a city full of people than in nature by myself.

I am a big foodie, but lead a plant-based diet these days. I know that can be challenging in some places I visit, because food can be a big part of the culture. That said, it's 2022 and things are a lot easier in that respect.

I enjoy craft beer, but I am drinking less and less these days. I am more likely to go out for coffee in the morning than beer in the evening.

I have been learning Spanish ever since my classes in Medellin Colombia in 2018 - my teacher (and now very good friend Lucia) has been with me online during my travels, but I know she will be upset with me more recently as I have not been practicing and am a little rusty! Lo siento Lucia x

I am not here to judge (even though we all somehow have that programmed into us). I live with an open mind and try to respect others decisions in life and appreciate the same in return. It's a process.

These are some of the very basics; we all have a lot more below the surface, so lets meet and get to know each other!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

During my travels, I have been lucky enough to be hosted and shown around by friends I had met previously, therefore I did not give CouchSurfing any use. However, that changed when I was back in Europe in 2016; I couchsurfed with a couple of lovely Spanish people on the beautiful island of Mallorca.

Since then I have couchsurfed in other areas of Europe and also Latin America.

Hanging out with locals, you can get away from the touristy hotspots and really see a place and really soak up the culture.

My experiences have been almost all positive and filled with so much kindness, but there were a couple of instances where I was hosted by people who were not around at all. I still appreciated the kindness of these people, but I don't think they understdood the essence of what CouchSurfing is about.

If there is no opportunity to hang out, I would rather have my request declined. I am not just here for somewhere to sleep, so please think about this if you receive a request from me. Thanks and big love!x
