About Me

MY LIFE'S PHILOSOPHY

I have three rules that I strive to live by: 1) Treat others the way you want to be treated; 2) Be better today than you were yesterday; and 3) To remind everyone I meet that they're perfect just the way they are. I believe my purpose on Planet Earth is to serve others by being a loving, passionate, and powerful example of how to live a productive, meaningful, and positive life. It's a tall order, but one I've placed on myself and take very seriously.

QUICK BIO

I'm a "Hero Award" winning Humanitarian. As the co-founder and a team medic with Boots on the Ground (www.bootsontheground.org), I have helped countless people all over the world in the wake of major disasters. In other words, I live what I believe. To me, talk is cheap. As Mahatam Ghandi said, “Be the change that you wish to see in the world.”

I'm also a Veteran, Traveller, Author, Business owner, and Scuba instructor with both PADI and SSI. I work seasonally as the training director of Dive Mentor (www.divementor.org), a 501c3 non profit, and manage the Instructor Development Course for Cozumel Dive School (www.cozumeldiveschool.com) in Cozumel.

As an Instructor Trainer, I can certify divers as Open Water, Advanced Open Water, Rescue (Stress and Rescue), Speciality Diver, Dive Master, Assistant Instructor, Open Water Instructor, Advanced Open Water Instructor, and Assistant Instructor Trainer, as well as, scores of specialities both at the diver and instructor levels.

HOSTING

When I'm on the island (or have a manager on duty) I open up our house to visitors, students, and other dive professionals. Generally, we can host between 8 and 12 people at any given time, with two communal rooms. We keep men with men, and women with women for security and privacy purposes.

*️*️ Please note, we do not have the ability to host couples or families *️*️

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

It's a great way to meet like-minded people from all over the world who have a passion for travel, culture, and sharing their lives with others. While I'm brand new here, I'm looking forward to getting to know new friends.

Music, Movies, and Books

Favorite TV show: Mr. Roger's Neighborhood.

If more people were as cool and loving as Mr. Fred Rogers, we'd live in a kinder and more tolerant world.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Jumped out of a plane at 25,000 feet with O2. Pretty rad experience.

Teach, Learn, Share

I've been an instructor in a number of disciplines for many years, but more than anything I just love to learn new things and enjoy edifying experiences with others.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, England, France, Germany, Haiti, Ireland, Japan, Northern Ireland, Philippines, Russian Federation, Scotland, South Africa, South Korea, Switzerland, Turkey, United States, Wales
