About Me

CURRENT MISSION

"To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children...to leave the world a better place...to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded. "
... -Ralph Waldo Emerson

ABOUT ME

I am: open minded, quiet, congenial, polite, and considerate.
I have an art degree and have worked with clay making pottery.
I enjoy living here, where the picturesque Appalachian mountain range descends down into the rolling, pastoral river hills, and into the Bluegrass.
I raise a vegetable garden and like gourmet cooking.

PHILOSOPHY

"People are often unreasonable and self centered. Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of ulterior motives,
be kind anyway. If you are honest, people may cheat you, be honest.
If you find happiness, people may be jealous, be happy anyway.
The good you do today, may be forgotten tomorrow. Do good.
Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough. Give your best.
For you see, in the end, it is between you and God.
It was never between you and them anyway."
Mother Teresa of Calcutta

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I enjoy exploring different culture's customs and seeing the beauty of scenic geography and different climates.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I am new to this experience and approach it with an open mind. In my travels I have worked out west in Wyoming where I worked in the oil exploration industry as an assistant to the seismograph driller.
I hitch hiked around and had to crash at various places to find work.
In 2006, I worked for a company called "Xanterra", a vending management service for both national and State Parks. I worked at Lake Yellowstone Hotel as a waiter in their restaurant where they had dormitory facilities for their employees.

Interests

I am interested in learning from people of all ages and cultures. I am a product of my education in art and history.

Music, Movies, and Books

Classical Renaissance: Baltimore Consort, John Playford, Old Crow Medicine Show,
Cajun: Boozoo Chavis,
Blues: Magic Slim, Jimmy Vaughn
Book: Castiglione; The Book of The Courtier
Book: A Clearing in the Distance

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have rappelled down "Fortress Wall" in the "Red River Gorge".

Teach, Learn, Share

I have built my two story "Timber Frame House" using the joinery technique, all done by my very own hands.
The taste buds are sensitive to: sweet, sour, salt, bitter, and hot.
I know how to cook a Chinese stir fry with all those taste sensitive pleasures. I include in my stir fry: a "Green Tomato relish", "Piccalilli", "chow chow" or Kimchi. I then add cabbage, onions, garlic, carrots, jalapenos, mushrooms, Italian seasoning, cumin, and lean chopped beef but not necessarily in that order.
Served over Basmati Brown rice.
